I have a much simpler setup that works for me on my 2003 safari AWD. I just fold the backs of the two back bench seats down then slide a half inch 4x8 sheet of plywood over the top of them then put a full sized blow up mattress on top of that . Then I put the ice chest 12v cooler and portable gas BBQ grill and colman camp stove , fold up table and lawn chairs under the seats. I have a battery jumper pack with a cigarette lighter port on it that I can plug a laptop or phone into to charge or power from , the pack will run the laptop and cooler chest all weekend without needing to be charged. And I keep the pack plugged in when the van is running .I plug the jumper pack into one of the four available 12v lighter ports on the van (three in front one by back doors) and charge it . I have a portable lantern with two brite LED panels that can separately be aimed in any direction and one has a solar panel on the back of it so it can be charged that way or with 110AC and it also as a nice brite built in flashlight . It will last 4 hours with both panels on or 8 with just one. When I am done camping I just let the air out of the mattress and put it back in the box , slide out the plywood and put everything else away and flip the seats back up and I am back to normal daily commuter mode.
Best design for an Astro I've seen yet. Includes the most basic stuff and doesn't try to be a Winnebago. Live the simplicity of couch to bed. Not a flip fold or contortionist movement. Keeps the walking aisle down the middle (electric scooter!) Where could I find rough designs?
Thanks for the tour, I've been looking at this same vehicle for an adventure van and JJ's layout makes the most sense after viewing many different mini camper ideas. Does JJ have a website documenting adventures? Real nice job!
