In this video I change the oil... Its about time as the previus oil change was in 1997..
I also take a look at the misfire issues the engine seems to have, And almost gets rid of it.
I also give it the first wash in 25 years!
This Skoda 105 S (estelle) Is going to be an awesome daily driver very soon!

Your car is in amazing condition! My 1977(ish) 105S went to the scrapyard in 1988 as it was beyond economic repair😩 Looking forward to following your (and your 105's) journey. Best wishes.

We had a similar issue on one of our old cars. It would start but ran rough but once we took the spark plugs out and cleaned them it was much better. It didn't get used much and only did short journeys.

Sounds kinda badass with 4 cylinders + no exhaust :D One thing I noticed: at 5:55 check the little round thing that the accelerator cable goes into on the carb: it should rotate freely in the arm, but it seems to be stuck, and it's bending the end of the cable every time you move the pedal.. this way it'll break the cable very soon, as it's a solid cable, not designed for bending.

Good work again. If you start working on the cooling system I’d advise you to check the sensor of the cooling fan in the radiator. Original ones often don’t work anymore. Could cause overheating of the engine. That would be a shame. I’ve put in an early sensor/thermoswich. Starts the fan at 85 degrees centigrade. Better safe then sorry. Oh and by the way that home made exhaust made me laugh 😃

Good tip.... I will look into it, but it seems as it all works! I am the kind of driver who are looking more at temp gauges then anything else really.... Maybe it says more about my choices of cars really.... haha!

The Biltema 20W50 mineral based oil is an excellent choice of oil for old engines in my opinion, at least in summer temperatures. Plenty og zink additives and relatively cheap. Been using it for years.
@SeasideGarage

More than a little late with my comment (many video's to catch up on), but.... Many many moons ago..... I convinced my girl friend (at the time)....a farmers daughter....that she should buy one of these cars new (cheapest car in the UK) as she needed a reliable car for work. She bought one!! (on finance) I liked it The very first day her father through a bag of cement in to the trunk...at the front. It improved the handling terrifficaly, and stayed in the car, never removed, until sold some years later....(for an MR2)A

I actually picked up some cement once in it, at yes... it handles completely different! way better!

Very interesting "repair" on the exhaust, I've heard of people using drinks cans and jubilee clamps to close up rust holes in pipes, but paint cans and string's a new one on me!!! :P As for the clutch, I'm thinking it may have been the brakes, if they could barely move the car to park it up, and the brakes had seized up by that point, then it would have made it tough to move, so, it could be that the clutch is indeed perfectly fine, if slightly abused to get it moving back in the day... :D
@SeasideGarage
@SeasideGarage 3 года назад
I have the same feeling about the clutch.... but it could begin til slip at higher speeds maybe, but it seems fine right now at least... Hehe the cans are really a Farm style repair.... I love it!
@Ragnar8504
@Ragnar8504 3 года назад
Considering how few kms it has on the clock that's not impossible at all - 50k in around 11 years is next to nothing, so it might have been sitting for extended periods of time even when it was still on the road. And that could very well cause the brakes to get sticky, especially in a cold and humid climate with salty sea air. It doesn't beat one car I was offered to buy about 15 years ago though. A 1989 Fiat Uno with 900 kms (I'm not kidding!) on the clock for 700 Euros! According to the story I was told it belonged to an elderly lady who used it to drive the same maybe three kms every week - from her house to the supermarket, from the supermarket to the cemetery and back home again. I had absolutely no use and no money for a car at that time though, so I didn't buy it.

Oh I love that 😍 such a familiar looking car here in the UK, they were everywhere. Then came the disappointments, and even worse, the jokes. Maan, the English got some mileage outta them jokes...🙄😊 friend had a white one of these with a vinyl roof (black, could've been brown... more likely black) and yes we pushed it... probably just a maintenance issue, battery, I bet 😊

@@SeasideGarage I drive a modem Skoda, and the story fascinates me, as to why their particular company was given th VW treatment... well let's face it, they were saved. But it's also fun to guess which parts of the modern Skoda, Skoda actually made... at the risk of falling back into that 80's n 90's ''ridicule' thing..!🙄 but I'm still gonna do it anyway, this 58 plate Octavia, ain't the best...😊 1. The door seals (which might as well not be there) 2. The door mirrors (which explode if you hit a twig) 3. The multiplayer (which takes all your discs from you, but neither plays them or gives them back...) 4. The little speakers in the doors. 5. The turbo actuator 6. The rear wiper motor (which lasts about four days, if that. And the washer doesn't work either) 6. The little rubber cord that keeps the petrol cap attached the car. 7. The clip that holds the metal rod ( that keeps the bonnet up) to the bonnet 8. The plastic battery tray. Well that was fun, and probably mostly wrong... 🤔 but it was good to get it off my chest 😅
@robotgoose225
@robotgoose225 2 года назад
Oh yeah, 9. Skoda were responsible for lacquering the paint on the spoiler, because it started flaking off when the car was four years old... I'm sure I can round this off to a nice even '10' if I try hard enough, but that's probably enough for now 😊🤣
