If I remember right they were never that quite anyway. But sounded great. My dad's first estelle had the rear louvre on the rear window. The skoda is bringing many memories back.

Yes it's louvres and I think that would look pretty good . Well after the trials and tribulations of getting the car back in the garage you had a good result with the exhaust , it's all coming along nicely.

oh bummer... and of course, that's the one screw out of the 3 that you can't just drill through :D bad, bad day contrary to what people might think, exhaust sealant paste can work pretty well when you're forced to re-use an old gasket - as long as the surface is mostly intact, and the paste itself has only a small gap to fill. I'm using one of the cars with a hack-repair like this for over a year now, and it's still not leaking at all.

Sounds ok. Just whip the chrome can off and start it - see which sound you prefer. 30 years ago when these were new they were criticised for having simple outdated mechanicals. That translates into simple and repairable mechanicals - that is something not to be sniffed at for the home mechanic or someone looking to run a car on a tight budget - I still think that this Skoda is the best most interesting old timer on the net - really looking forward to its resurrection

could you get a steel bit off a scrap exhaust to extend the end of the exhaust beter than the chrome thing ! love your lift.

Finally the Skoda puts up a bit of a fight, still all good though. It sounds really good but like you I don't think I could live with the exhaust extension. 1 to 2 months seems a long time to wait for a gasket, I've just checked in the UK and it's a week, also the Felicia looks similar and much cheaper, I maybe wrong there though. Great content again thank you.

Should probably quiet down somewhat after a bit of use and the silencer is carbon sooted a bit.

Definitely sounds different to stock with that new exhaust fitted, only way I can really tell is that there's an older model Skoda 120 in the game My Summer Car, and although it is intended to be modded too, it has a more original sound to its' exhaust as I remembered from my dad's Estelle, so, that silencer you have gives it a bit of a boy racer-esque sound... :P And that repair job, goodness me, probably would have taken less time to spot-weld the cans on and slop on a load of exhaust patch stuff round the seams, if they had a welder that is... :P

It sounds pretty good. I personally think that the chrome tip of the exhaust has to go ;) That paint can system is something to hang in a wall as a trophy haha
