I concur from UK. Too many channels concentrate on the ‘will it run after xx years’ nonsense. Then some them even ride the bikes home - despite turning up with a buddy and a truck!! But some them have jeeeezus on their side apparently 🙄🧐😎😜👀🙈 Peace

@@BrickHouseBuilds Thanks for your reply, the CB650SC cooler, hoses and take off casting all fit directly onto the Benelli sixes. I mounted the cooler where the stock horns were, I relocated the horns either side on the rear engine mounting plates which on my machine are now stainless steel as are the front engine mounting plates. I'm looking forward to your future 750 Sei videos.

Indeed. If it was stock, it would be a crime, a sin even, especially given the rarity of them. I actively dislike most of the modern interpretations of the cafe racer: Mercilessly butchered rear ends; LED strips sewn into BROWN leather seat covers; BIG FAT knobbly front tyres (??WTF??), guaranteeing they will never race anything other than the coffee shop poser’s ego; and the ludicrous Bermuda Triangle of lost opportunities behind the carbs - where imagination goes to cry!!! I swear if I ever meet the lunatic that started such a ridiculous trend (copied by EVERYONE devoid of an original idea or imagination), I may need a Valium to avoid doing serious harm. But this bike has already had a life on the track, so that’s part of its story already. So the same rules obviously don’t apply. My book won’t be available on Amazon. 🧐😎😜👀 Peace

Yea lots of carbon on the pistons and surely the head. Still undecided on how far ill take it down but I would like to see less junk in the cylinders

Your spot on dan. Cb650 four is the basis of the engine. Stock honda 550 pistons and rings are a direct fit. I rebuilt on of these years ago. Wish I still had if now.

To be fair, there was no real need for Benelli to use JIS screws, because there must be plenty of European companies producing the more compatible alternatives. And it’s likely that the JIS screws cost more than them. Plus the choice of screw heads after all have no bearing on the overall engine or bike design. However, JIS heads ARE superior to many of the alternatives, except perhaps Allen/Hex Sockets. And we know that Benelli was in full Picasso mode with this one: Stealing from the best!! I remember when I saw my first 750 Sei at the opening day of a new boutique style dealership in the UK Midlands. They were allowing people to test ride most of the Benelli range - except the Sei. As the screaming two stroke triples went off in a cloud of smoke, the 750 just sat there majestically basking in the admiring gazes of every one of us who knew we couldn’t afford it. I’m guessing that was 1977, but the memory is getting foggy. The place was called Davick Motique! Two guys called Dave and Erick with more money than business sense. The enterprise sadly didn’t last long. I did buy my Belstaff wax cotton jacket from them, but it was always a bit odd due to being on display in bright sunlight through the plate glass showroom windows. It’s odd how we store our recollections isn’t it?

Its unknown if it had a rebuild at some point but yes the crosshatching looks good. It could be a low mile bike for all I know too. Valves aren't hitting as you wouldn't be able to rotate the engine. I was fighting stiction as it was freeing up. Its good now

@@BrickHouseBuilds it’s a little hard watching the video rather than being there in person. In the late 80’s I had an apprentice who was doing a first service on a gs Suzuki 2 valve twin and managed to somehow after removing the rocker cover take the tensioner off and turned the rear wheel backwards to bring the piston to tdc, in the process skipped the cam chain over several teeth and bent the valves and cracked the guides and he did not notice until he started it up and really bent and broke things. Worst bit I was right next to him working on a gsxr1100 and did not notice or twig to his mistakes, and question when he said he needed to use extra thick shims for the valves, till it was to late. Glad it is all going to well and it should actually be an excellent example of the Sei when up and running. Take care.

@@BrickHouseBuilds Could be the small bolt is twisted, the mechanical timing advance is under there usually. A good thing to check in case it's seized up.
