The 1977 Honda Express NC50 was a popular and distinctive moped that captured the essence of utilitarian transportation during its era. Manufactured by Honda, a renowned Japanese automaker, the Honda Express NC50 was designed as an affordable, reliable, and easy-to-use vehicle for urban commuting and short-distance travel.
The NC50 featured a compact and lightweight design, making it highly maneuverable and ideal for navigating through crowded city streets. Its frame was constructed from durable steel, providing stability and resilience to daily use. The overall aesthetic of the moped was simple and functional, with a utilitarian charm that appealed to a wide range of riders.
Powering the Honda Express NC50 was a reliable two-stroke, air-cooled engine. This engine provided ample power for urban riding, allowing the moped to reach a top speed of around 30 miles per hour (48 kilometers per hour). The engine was known for its efficiency and ease of maintenance, making it an economical choice for budget-conscious riders.
The Honda Express NC50 featured an automatic transmission, eliminating the need for manual shifting and making it accessible to riders of all experience levels. It also had a comfortable and low-slung seating position, contributing to a relaxed and enjoyable riding experience. The moped came equipped with large, grippy tires that provided excellent traction on various road surfaces.
One notable feature of the Honda Express NC50 was its storage capacity. It had a spacious front basket mounted between the handlebars, allowing riders to conveniently carry small items or groceries. This feature added to the moped's practicality, further enhancing its appeal as a reliable mode of transportation for everyday use.
The 1977 Honda Express NC50 became a popular choice among urban commuters and college students due to its affordability, ease of use, and low maintenance requirements. Its reliable performance, combined with Honda's reputation for quality and reliability, made it a sought-after moped during its time.
Today, the Honda Express NC50 holds a nostalgic charm and remains a popular choice among vintage motorcycle enthusiasts. Its timeless design and simple functionality continue to captivate riders who appreciate its retro appeal and practicality.

Just bought a 1980 "barn find" with less than 100 miles. Inspired by you video! Summer is here so I've got some work to do. I think my son lives a few blocks from where you shot this video!

Cool restoration. I had a sky blue 83' NC50 Express when I was younger and lived in Bremerton WA while going to college. The 83" had a 2speed transmission that let me top out at 32mph and gave 100 miles per tank. Front wire basket and a wind/ bug shield. Great bike for RV touring and riding 15mins to work. Glad you were able to get it running again and give it a new life .

Awesome! Had a LIME GREEN, black seat '77 in '77 at age 15. Rode that sucker everywhere. If ya hold the left brake/start lever you can kick it over w/o having to wind the crank pedal, IIRC. These can fetch $3k in pristine, low mile condition on Bring A Trailer.

Nice easy fix! But somethings these little old bikes can really test your patience. I took my carb off so many times the bolts and screws got so easy to take out.

This is great and I love your channel, as someone who is just getting into Vintage Mopeds/Trail Bikes/etc. I really do wish you would explain what you are doing a bit better though, because as someone who never got to take a mechanics class, I get kinda lost as to what you are doing sometimes. Or the why and how's... Or what tools to use. I understand it might be hard to in the moment, but maybe you could do a voice over after the fact, if that's easier. Just literally explaining each step of what you are doing or something. Sorry. It would just really help a novice like me.

Hey brother the bike turned out really nice, I would save the old ground terminal from the old coil. The yellow wire is for the black and white stripe wire and the ground is green.

@@Mechanic_kid there’s another channel named noped Thursday and he’s a mad scientist when it comes to Honda express and Yamaha qt50 as well. I think she’s a keeper for sure. I’ve gotten multiple offers on my na50 but she’s not for sale. I know I won’t find another one like that if I sell mine. I have a series of videos on how to repairs on my na50, hope you can find them useful.

I also would like to know where you got the coil, every one I looked at has a short plug wire and would have to be made longer. And if you’re looking for tires, try the IRC NR77 model 70/90 tires.

That's a fuse inside the spark plug cap and a good way to make sure they don't get loose is to use electrical tape cuz they get loose from vibration when riding have this happen to me lost spark had to walk almost half a mile then I figured it out and everything was good on mine You're lucky the tail light worked right away I spent all night working on getting the tail light working cuz someone chopped up the wires on the one I had but after I got everything going it ran great ended up selling it for like 600 bucks got two of them from 120 sold the one for $600 and the other one for 95 because it needed a carburetor and a gas tank
