You should/could have been able to dig parallel to the grade board? If you offset the boom and then drive the excavator (Base of the boom) up tight to the Grade board.
Paul, I wonder if JCB isn't missing a great bet; the one armed skid steer with a back hoe for an arm rather than a loader arm. With a twelve inch, straight bucket , from the side looks like the way to make that job go.
also possible to use insolation panel outside the house, horizontally in the ground to protect the slab against the frost/cold, but the weakness would stay the same. Thermal bridge at every posts needs to be adress individualy.
Hey Paul, I'm curious the cost difference in a pier foundation like that compared to a ICF wall foundation. ICF would be cleaner looking and already done and insulated read for the floor to go in without additional digging and work. Also while your at it what's the difference in 2x6 stud wall and posts? I would still do external girts for metal, but even better wall would include sheathing, and limits thermal bridges when spray foamed. Full truss roof would eliminate added framing of purlins and ceiling framing so again might be a wash or cheaper.
When you've been in business for a few years, tasks such as this one seem mundane and unworthy of your time. But the truth is someone has to do it. And as simple as the task seems it takes attention to detail making sure everything is done correctly. Last thing you want to be doing is second guessing a helpers work after concrete is poured. Did you and the crew frame that structure? I see some cross bracing that I don't recall from previous videos.
There requiring me to go down 24" from the bottom of the grade board on the outside. Then out 24" at a slight angle on the outside pitching away from the building. I was told this is new energy codes.

Hey there Paul, again hard work pays off and looks fantastic, tell Justin to help out a little more (Ha)? I went on their web site and the estimator indicated that I will need 83 pieces, can you go ahead and order mine and get it delivered to my site? Also, should I get a load of crusher rock delivered to level out the floor and around the outside building edge? I'm. still checking on the floor drain system. I'm so excited to finally get started, see you guys next week!!
