Just happened across your channel today. I also picked up the hyper raptor and man i LOVE IT! Honestly the best crossbow ive owned. The trigger makes it all worth it to me, compared to other bows. Im like you, i dont want to spend 2 grand on a ravin, which mind you is now owned and manufactured by centerpoint aka crosman (the BB gun folks). I want a good bow that is affordable, durable, can be used for years and will put meat in the freezer. Sorry to see your troubles with the original bow. Hopefully its a fairly isolated incident. Definitely subscribed!
Couldn't agree more! Fast, light, great trigger, good size, and wont break the bank. Like you my only complaint is it takes a good target to stop the hyperflights.
I bought a Barnett xp390 with cabelas gift cards I got for Christmas it was on sale for $350 cad, I was sceptical for the price but had amazing reviews so I figured it was worth a gamble, I’ve never owned a crossbow before this one so I have nothing to compare it to but I love it, only place it lacks is the garbage scope they come with, first time shooting I was punching bullseyes, now it’s a bit off but still close enough I’d be comfortable hunting with it
I am leaning towards a hyper but that sting problem I just look at the 24 bows and the said same thing so do I make that gamble I have Barnett c6 kill deer but need to up grade so best of your thoughts orange army over now now back in soon get back toe
I love my wicked ridge invader 400 fps with the hand crank built in super smooth and nice and easy to draw back i like it better than other bows because its built rite in stock and my medical issues i cant pull them by hand i like barnett also but there cocking devices are not that great at all thats why i went with the wicked ridge good reviews and great fallow up videos not many ppl do that ..new sub...
Really solid video. I am new to crossbows and looking to purchase my first one. Admittedly I’m a little intimidated by them and ive been handling weapons my whole life. The Raptor is a top consideration for me. I’m still trying to find the point of diminishing returns with crossbows but I think I might get the Raptor. Can’t find to many negative things said about it.
Thanks so much for the comment. Yeah I am still a bit intimidated by the Raptor myself. I can't imagine some of these new ones shooting 550 plus ... If your not sure you want to go to the level of the hyper Raptor.... Which don't get me wrong is awesome.... I had a chance to see Barnett's whitetail line up from a friend and was very impressed. While not as light or feature packed, you get a lower speed but still a killing machine. The headhunter arrows stop in a target better too ..... That being said .. I love my Raptor and I'm sure you would too. It's a awesome bow and after a few shots you won't be intimidated. Just avoid the crank cocking one for now. I hated that one.
OK been kicking around the idea of getting a crossbow for two years, I love my Hoyts and my Matthew's bows, but after tearing my rotor cuff in my left arm it's painful to hold my bow for long periods, I'm going to take your advice and try the Barnett Hyper Tac,
Just got this bow an the latch got stuck on mine quick fix but so far so good I’m glad someone actually put videos with it out very helpful on my choice an by chance what Broadheads do u shoot I’m having difficulty deciding what to get
I ended up returning my TenPoint Flatline 460 And bought the Hyper Raptor without the crank… Absolutely Love it🦌 Oh yeah and I dropped it off a tree hook 20 feet up and no damage bolt still stayed in place😳
@@fernfieldfarmsHomesteadyes the Flatline locked up on the slide while I was on a hunting trip so I went to a local dealer and said I needed to get a decent inexpensive crossbow to get me thru the rest of my hunt… Yeah well I kept the Barnett Returned the TenPoint I’m very happy with just the lighter weight alone 👍
Just curious on the accuracy & consistency at 50 yards. Also can one use regular bolts? Or is the Crossbow arrow specific?. Thank you for your time and reviews.
Larry. Thanks for the comment. I honestly haven't even tried 50. I won't shoot a deer that far so I don't let myself practice it haha. You can't use any arrow it has to be either their headhunter or the hyperflite. In my opinion use the Hyper Flite that's what is made for it. Consistency at 30 is spot on though. I could try to do some longer shots soon it's just not my realm of comfort with a deer. They have a awesome sale right now on some other models you might want to check out too!
Mine shot about an inch off at 50 yards. Cant complain as id only taken maybe a dozen shots prior to that. It didnt line up with the 50 dot on the scope though, it ljned up with the 40 yard dot, so a bit of guessing there. But for me, accuracy at 50 is spot on with a little practice
I think you said you used the rage broadheads, did you use the normal shock collars or the high energy. I have a hyper raptor and aren’t sure which I should use
Another question, did the red high energy collar break completely or did the petal just kinda fold down. I have a hunt next weekend and I’m getting dumb scenarios in my head of the collar not breaking and the blades no deploying on my rage extreme 4 blade
Can’t decide whether to go with the hypertac 420 that is on sale for 499.00 or the hyper raptor 410 for 599.00 do you or anyone have any opinion on which one to get? Any help would be appreciated!
I have never used the hyper tac 420. I am going to review some more of their stuff coming up but I don't know what yet. I love my raptor and it has a lot of benefits, but I would say avoid the ccd if you go with it. If your looking for some cool new features the Raptor has them . If your looking for something that you might have more confidence in, I believe the hypertac had been in production longer. But, without using the Hypertac I'm not able to really point you in a direction. I will see if it's possible to get my hands on one here but I can make no guarantees. Either one get a expensive strong target or your going to destroy your fletchings fast!
Yes, looking to get one of them soon. I’d still watch a review on whatever they give ya hopefully hypertac 420. Im leaning towards raptor without ccd it’s lighter and is more appealing to me.
I just purchased a Raptor 410, and ruined the fletchings on all my brand new arrows trying to sight it in, even though my target says “450fps+” so I was curious what target you use. First shot buried all the way to the knock, and I should’ve stopped there. I love it so far, but can’t afford to buy new Hyperflites every time I shoot it lol.
I saw one guy using Iron Man by Big Shot, but I’m hesitant to try it. I was using a brand new Morrell Yellow Jacket 450+ from Academy, and it doesn’t have near enough stopping power.
My suggestion is a little unorthodox but, having used my Ghost 410 for 11 years and in the beginning dealing with the same issue your having, I went to Harbor Freight and got 4 bundles(of 4 ea.)of their interlocking floor mat. I basically duck taped them back to back and it worked better than my $400 crossbow target(NOT an exaggeration). I just purchased the Hyper Raptor yesterday so I can retire my 410, and will be using the same bundle of mats I first purchased in the beginning(and have used every year for 11 years to verify my sights for deer season). It works, is far cheaper, far more durable and won’t degrade over time. Hope this helps!
