It's just weird how Barney has done so many things for Robin from sending out applications and getting her a job when her visa was up to doing this for her when she was homesick and a lot more in between not to mention Barney was the one who said he liked how strong Robin was and how she was her own daddy when Ted made her feel bad because he didn't feel needed in their relationship. Barney accepted her for who she was yet this girl still had the audacity to complain to Ted on their wedding day that Barney has only lied to her and go on about how Ted stole a blue French horn or found her locket. Like really? The things Barney has done go beyond that and have actually helped her life. Robin was where she was because of Barney but a blue french horn and a necklace that add nothing to your life mean much more? This is why those dialogues or what happened at the end never made sense. All throughout the series they've always made it clear that it was Barney who truly loved and accepted Robin for who she was and it was Barney who Robin loved. The ending didn't make sense.
It's also Ted who would have done anything and everything for her including stealing her a Blue French Horn, finding her locket, getting out of the way so she can be happy with Barney even though Ted will never stop loving her no matter what--it's Ted who would do anything for Robin to see her smile even if she doesn't feel that way. Its Ted who's always been there for Robin no matter what. He's loved her since the pilot all the way up to the finale. Ted obviously loved Robin more. Barney and Robin only lasted three years while Ted and Robin were meant to LAST FOREVER.
@@zoefang4563 They were meant to last forever? Last time I checked they tried dating a couple of times and it NEVER worked. What makes you think it will work now? Robin and Ted are a terrible pair. They are too different.
@@zoefang4563 And how long do you thing "Mobatsky" will last? Because if you believe that forever, you clearly didn´t watch the show. Barmey loved Robin. Ted was ready to marry any girl who showed him a bit of attention and in my opinion, the only girl we met that was truly perfect for him was Tracy.
@@theresam9513 Mhmm Barney loved her SO much he continued to be selfish throughout their marriage, right?? SO much love. Their bond was that strong that so their bond only lasted three years. LMAOO. Ted on the other hand DID everything for Robin including finding her locket and giving Barney the credit he did not deserve--and the woman he clearly did NOT deserve only for Robin's happiness. THAT is true love. Ted would have done so much more. UNCONDITIONAL love means letting go--loving MORE not less. #Mobatsky. The whole point of the story is Ted and Robin reunited after they both got what they wanted in life---at the perfect timing. They never stopped loving each other.
Coz they had to justify their ending. Which was shit. Firstly Ted should've been with Victoria (she was PERFECT) if not then the mother should've been introduced way earlier. And Robin and Barney were perfect. HIMYM doesn't hold now. Also, Ted plays piano for Victoria when they meet. So why the lesson. ??? Anything goes it seems.
yeah I was just rewatching the scene where Barney tells off the reverend and talks about how much he loves his and Robin's story, Robin says the same, honestly a real bummer knowing how that story ends
from the beginning of the show I've noticed that robin was the one who enjoyed Barney's jokes whatever he does you can see her smile I've rooting for them from the beginning
Its not possible what you say because the producers of the show didnt intend them to come together at all, its something they came up with later so they could continue for a couple of seasons.
The point of the ending was that it did matter - something ending badly doesn't mean that it wasn't a good thing while it was happening, that was the whole point of the ending. Things can end, and not always the way we want them to, but that doesn't devalue how good it was while it was happening.
MJN SEIFER and it would’ve been a great message if the whole point of the divorce was just so robin could be available for ted, you don’t focus an entire season to a wedding while showing how well they work together while also teasing the wedding for practically 3 seasons just for the couple to get divorced 5 minutes later and offscreen like it was just some dumb storyline that helped extend the series, if they were going to divorce them the either don’t focus that much on the wedding or just discard the idea because it’s imposible for a storyline like this to fit in one single episode without counting the other 3 storylines the show forgot to develop until the end being 1) Barney having a daughter 2) robin liking ted again 3) the mothers death. The only one that could’ve worked in a single episode was Tracy death since there were hints but making the 4 all together was the worst idea they could’ve had
@@hegluj6796 Not focusing on the wedding would have killed the point they were making - it's supposed to be one of the most epic weddings ever, so it makes sense that so much attention is put on it. They even got the idea (or the idea remind them of) a wedding that at least one of them went to, and it was one of the most awesome nights he/they had, but then the couple divorced, but that didn't stop the memory of the wedding being an awesome night. I get what you mean about putting all the finale stuff in one go, but I'm ultimately okay with it.
MJN SEIFER exactly and it was supposed to be that and they hyped and teased the hell of the wedding since season 6 and not only that but how well both Barney and robin worked (they even had to erase their development only for the divorce to happen because if they followed their character arcs then they wouldn’t have divorced) and seeing how they divorced them in only 5 minutes after the wedding simply means that it was just some storyline that the writers thought of to extend the series but in the end it wasn’t supposed to matter and the fact that the last episode has lots of deleted scenes like a funeral or robin talking with ted but none with the divorce just makes it clear that the writers did used that relationship as some filler just to extend the series and when the ending came they just tossed it away to resume ted and robin thinking that people would be happy because it was intended to be a fan service moment but of course ended up being the reason the ending is considered one of the worst
Mani Thangadurai yeah, the writers really showed their development with the lack of any fight that wouldn’t be considered discussion within seasons 8-9
@@hegluj6796 IF they weren't fighting, WHY was Robin willing to run away from marrying Barney? Simple, because she had had enough of his lies scams, and the locket was the final straw. HE did save the marriage by being honest but his lack of maturity meant that the marriage wasn't meant to last.
Mani Thangadurai because she was having a mental breakdown thanks to her commitment issues and her wedding was in less than an hour? If she wanted to leave Barney and then decided not to then she wouldn’t have ran to hug him and kiss him the second he said his vows
Mani People ship this get over it and you have no right to insult them because they ship and clearly waste your time by clicking on vids related to this ship you hate so much
LMAOOO look at Swarkles shippers fuming about the ending. Neil Patrick Harris has given his blessings to Swarkles shippers to move on and just be happy for Mobatsky.
@@zoefang4563 @Zoe Fang look at you.. You lack even a little bit of common sense.. Do you think any actor or crew member of any show will say that they hate their own show or they need to change anything? That would be so unprofessional..Neil is such a professional actor.. and fyi, with that "ending" HIMYM was ranked in all the critics' worst finales of all time...and we all know the sole reason for that downgrade of such a legendary series is pairing up a long forgotten couple who dated for only for one year somewhere in the beginning of the show, the couple who had the least amount of chemistry in history of TV shows, the couple which almost every viewer disliked.. On the other hand breaking up of a couple that had a beautiful slowburn, character development, had way more beautiful moments, best chemistry, from season 7 starting it was about their love story breadcrumbs.. So stfu and accept your ship sailed only because the creators were too lazy to change the ending that was planned from season 1. They must've regretted it because that's why they released an alternate ending in dvd. P. S - Cobie Smulders told in an interview that she always hopes Barney and Robin would end up together. And Neil Patrick Harris was the one to introduce the idea of "Swarkles". He shipped Swarkles way more than anyone..
You see this and the lengths Barney would go for Robin and then what... he regresses to season one Barney and gets divorced from Robin because he doesn’t like the traveling ? sorry Bays and co... this was not a legendary ending
We should have seen it coming. They're too similar. They CAN fall in love and date, but to be married? That's a stretch. I thought Barney would have completely matured after he married Robin and became more selfless, but I was wrong. He was still Barney.
the point on the ending was to show reality in life. Just cause they are a great couple, doesnt mean they will last when married. having said that, the line it wasnt a failed marriage, just a successful one that lasted 3 years hit me deeply. It meant that even though there is a expiry date on their relationship, doesnt mean that the when they were in it, they did not wholeheartedly love each other and had a really good relationship. Sometimes a good but short marriage is better than a long bitter marriage. I like how they werent afraid to show this in a finale. Didnt stop me from hating it, but still i have to admit it was a very good and accurate play to real life
Barney is not reverted, he has a daughter, he matures, he yells at girls for their cloths and drinking, tells them to call their parents.... Did you even watch it...
I think the point of the show was to always have Ted and Robin end together. I love Barney and Robin together, and I believe that they could've worked out IF the writers allowed it, but bc their initial plan was to have Ted and Robin end together, that's what we got. If anything, they should've never put Barney and Robin together at all.
Best man ever? Omg.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The dude slept with women after lying to them his whole life. He himself accepted that he sold a woman for a car. Not to mention, he cheated on nora when he was in love... 🤣
@@NandhuNGNagarajan I said "In love" not regular Barney, yes, i was a monster, but he loves his daughter, he´ll never hurt her, learn to read, idiot (He wasn´t really in love with Nora at that point)
**SPOILERS** ridiculous series finale, barney does so much for robin and u can see how much she loves him. That was dumb how they all reverted back to season 1 personalities.... the writers said the wife dying + barney and robin getting a divorce imitates reality and how things don't always work out which I get but making her go back with Ted after all that?? That doesn't seem realistic
They didn`t revert back. Barney going briefly back to his standard way after a breakup was a constant in the show, as much as Ted growing the breakup beard.
We watch himym to escape reality. The whole series is a comedy and reality can’t be a complete comedy. They set up a happy ending. They could FOR US the last episode be fan service because we help build it for what it was by watching.
thats life, its never were perfect, people could love each other for decades pre married, yet there is still a chance for them to break up the moment they wore that ring
Honestly the episode before last is just a perfect ending, and if you add the alternative ending the series wraps up nicely and you don't have to undermine everything you've built up for the entire last season. As far as I'm concerned last episode never happened.
Once there was this boy who wore a lot of suits and said that stuff was legendary. HEEEE gave lots of hiiigh fives and swore That he would never get marrieeed And really thought he meant it
Stuff like this make me wish that Robin and Barney’s marriage should’ve worked out in the show’s finale. Like seriously, the show should have kept them together.
So all along Barney knew there was never a surprise laser tag rehearsal dinner for him and was only pretending that he thought there was because the real surprise was for Robin. And I can't believe he finally started to like Canada after spending years making fun of the country and hating the fact that he himself is a quarter Canadian
He was, she wasn't. He was making all the sacrifices and she was making none. They where out of town/country 95% of the time. And wherever they went she'd have almost no time to actually spend with him. While he's traveling the world for the remote chance of spending the evening with her. That doesn't work. The breakup is entirely realistic tbh. Going back to Ted, that's what's really off about the ending.
It fit. One of the recurring themes with the two is that they don`t really discuss things that make them vulnerable. Their relationship (both times) was also built on deceit since it involved cheating (Barney to Ted and Robin to Kevin). Even the proposals involve showmanship and deceit.Barney`s love for Robin was there, no doubt but the reasons why it didn`t last were actually laid out. Heck, the whole last season have them fighting or ignoring important fights until minutes before the actual marriage. They took a shot and went at it and it was awesome for three years.
@@MisterWhat excuse me.. Are you intentionally forgetting the fact there was a time Ted cheated on Victoria with Robin? and he lost both Victoria and Robin at the same time?
I think the nicest way to criticize the ending is they did too good of a job with 3 things They did TOO good of a Job with Tracy's Character They did TOO good of a Job with Barney/Robin's wedding they did TOO good of a Job establishing why Ted and Robin arent right for each other and are better off as friends so when they torpedoed the 3 things they were really good at, to basically end on Ted/Robin (which was something they were not very good at writing) well the show was almost at war with itself in this way, the writers wanted to go in one direction, but their talents were much better suited to go in another
Why are you guys fighting who robin should be with? in my opinion, both ted and barney does not deserve robin. Robin is the type of person who is never satisfied of what she had. she only realized she loved ted when ted and victoria where together, only realized that she wanted barney when he was soothing his relationship with nora and during that time when he said that he was done chasing robin, and then wanting ted again when ted finally found tracey. Now knowing that, think of what would happen in robin and ted's relationship in the future? she has the worst personality in himym tbh
I disagree, it's potentially a great idea. Think of it as a maze where you know where the exit is. Should be a smooth ride if you take the path you should. Unfortunately the writers decided to bash through the walls instead. By making the Ted and Robin relationship look toxic. And Swarkles look meant to be.
SPOILER!!!!!👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾 I love how Barney had all the power to just leave his kid but instead he stayed with the mom throughout her whole pregnancy (I’m guessing) and took care of his kid
I believe that was the third time something important happend to Barney in the presence of a security guard. Other two being the proposal and finding out Jerry was his father
The fact that the fake room is in the middle of the skate ring kills this scene for me. If the fake walls were attached to a real wall, with a door they came through, it would have been better for me. Like, she didn't notice she was crossing the ring and into a fake room?
Ok this is a nice scene, but how did they get into this room without Robing noticing they were in a giant cubicle? I mean, they would have to go through the ice skate ring to go into it. See 1:37
They ended things right at the end of the series cause the witters of the show wanted Ted to end up with Robyn from the very beginning. So they made it happen, regardless of what people wanted. They did an interview explaining it all.
What interview? Every interview I found has them explaining things in a very sad tone how they’re sorry people didn’t liked it and even one has the, saying how they would change the ending if they could
@@hegluj6796 the ending was pre-recorded since they knew the kids would age drastically. Still for some reason they decided not to scrap it and not the show the kids
Ad this clearly shows how Barney is meant to be single! And doesn't love Robin! And has no character arc! And they should get a divorce!... Right? No? Wait...
To all the people who thinks divorce defeats the purpose of a marriage, I simply cannot agree with an equal proposition- that buying a car is futile because there's a possibility that I might crash with it. That's part of living- taking chances, chances with what we love in life, finding happiness, and sharing it with them at this very moment, right now. I see people complaining about how bad the ending was for years and years. Grow up. You shit on one percent of the show being bad and use it to dismiss the brilliance and greatness of its 99 percent? I don't buy that BS with all due respect. HIMYM was there to make us smile, laugh and feel, when we were down, and I didn't pay a cent for them (for justifiable reasons lol) Atleast for me, and while not exempted from criticism I feel like it more than delivered. The devil's in the detail, which is the title. How 'I' met your mother, not how 'your mother' met me. This was the story of Ted, and personally, I justify the ending on that regard.
@@agnimitrasarkar6359 Ted and Tracy were too perfect it looked contrived. Barney and Robin were toxic, dysfunctional, and doomed to fail. Ted and Robin were the real deal because they brought out the best in each other and their love truly endured. True story. 😎
"Barney and Robin didn't belong together. She's meant for Ted'~ Neil Patrick Harris' own words. NPH has given all you heartbroken Swarkles shippers his blessings and gratitude for supporting them but now even NPH is telling you to move on and just be happy for Mobatsky.. Swarkles had its moments. Now its REALLY time for Mobatsky ship to sail--at the perfect timing this time. #LastForever #Mobatsky #endgame
Oh, fuck off. The ending could have been with Ted and Robin, it still wont make me to approve it. Killing Ted's perfect girl just to be with someone like Robin. Nah, never.
Doesn't really matter. Actors rarely go against the writers. Even got actors were pretty reticent about saying it was bad. That's just not professional.
Neil Patrick Harris and Cobie Smulders were the captains of the Swarkles ship. They rooted for Barney and Robin throughout the run. If you think they approve of the finale just because they don't want to go against the writers in interviews you need to grow up.
This is why Robin and Barney can't work and WON'T work: Too much drama, lies, competition, and Barney is just unreliable in the long run. He's awesome as a friend. As a husband?? That's not Barney. He can fall deeply in love with Robin sure. Yet he won't compromise a thing with her when they were married--so their marriage ONLY lasted three years.
They were too alike is a pretty dumb argument. Lots of marriages with alike people work. Marshal and Lily are pretty alike. It was just a dumb reason invented by writers to shoehorn their ending
@@Mani26031981 homie we know you're an incel-type like ted. it's all going to be okay. surely one day you'll realize the ending was a cop-out. we believe in you!
