The Baron is my favorite personification of death. Aside from his dapper appearance, he also seems to understand the importance of living as well. Most interpretations of death are very neutral and detached, but Baron Samedi understands that death is the curtain call of the comedy of life, and expects everyone to enjoy their time on stage.
You never disappoint A.E♥️ I was waiting for you to make this very video for so long… I was right sticking around. Well done again! So informative and the arts chosen here is just amazing… looking forward to your next work
Thank you so much for this video! I very much appreciate the sharing of knowledge and an opportunity to learn of the different spirits alive in the world. I have much respect for the Baron Samedi. Many thanks!
I'm not a voodoo practicener because it's a closed practice and I've seen what happens to people who mess with it but I love the stories and art that voodoo inspires Edit I am a Magician though so I know more about occult practices than most people
Thank you for this! This past Halloween I created a character costume called Padre Esqueleto dressed in a priest's clothing and collar and skeleton makeup. The effect turned out great that I thought for next year to emulate a Voodoo deity. Baron Samedi had been close to what I'd created this year, I wanted to know more about him and the mythology behind him. This video was greatly informative. I'd thought Baron Samedi and Baron La Croix were the same that I'd been using the names interchangeably, but it sounds like they are two different personalities of the same god.
@@DarkGoddess-mm3jl I said emulate, not imitate. I respect cultures and customs and try when, on the rare occasion of doing a costume, to not disrespect a culture.
This is so crazy, a friend from a video game I play turned me on to this video. And until today I never heard of Baron Samedi, yet each variation of my character on said game looks like him or his incarnations, the game is DCUO btw
I used to love that game and what's really interesting is I used to play with this character all the time on the ol Nintendo 64, Goldeneye 007. I felt unstoppable and a strong connection to the character!
Much Love and Respect to the Baron❤ the manifestation of the oppression that the children of the people who suffered a torture and abuse that no people have suffered before nor after. To be kidnapped and beaten took outside to a ship never to return to the land of your father’s again. Everywhere they went you will see the same spirits that originate from the orisha Yoruba pantheon. All of our ancestors were once untied in very the same land as one. The earlier colonizers said they’re so united we can’t get in to steal. They went back and brought the Bible and guns. The rest in history.
...ah no. That is absolutely false. Slavery has existed long before the british bought slaves from the african slaver empire of Benin. Slavery is a human universal, practiced by quite litterally every culture throughout human history. Even today there open slave markets in africa. The same with the idea of colonization. the expansion of a natino is a natural process and takes place even within the most primitive cultures. This happend with the Huns and the japanese, than with the chinese and the koreans, the romans and basically the entirety of the mediteranian, it happened with the turkish and the romanians, it even happend with the polynesian island nations. Conflict is part of human nature and the fact that the european empires were simply more successfull than most other empires does not make this unique at all
@@harraldschmitt9113 stfu the Arabs came 1000 years before the whites. Secondly slavery was the way tribes settled after wars. Yes the Dahomey Benin had the ultimate army therefore they had the most slaves, they were allowed to marry into the tribe. I’m sorry that you feel a way about the deeds of your ancestors. It is what it is. I don’t care about your history lesson I’ve been to west Africa I know what I know. Carry on.
@@harraldschmitt9113 You have a point from a historical stand point. However, black people are still needing to be awaken to the knowledge and understanding to see past the superficial and temporary aches when the keys to our freedom lies still within the history books. The fact that this conflict has always been a part of human history is still something we all can evolve from, I believe, because I feel oppressed and shackled not in the way you think but these feelings come from my ancestors and instead of blaming others and the world I and all people should take responsibility and do better, meaning learn from those who came before us and evolve from slavery and the mentality that very much keeps us lazy. Literally nothing will change until we go inward to ourselves. Slavery from the Americas and beyond affects me as a "Latino" living in the US. So no historical facts or data will ever compare to my own life experience and those of my siblings. As I read to learn about the past I know well that Im in the moment creating and witnessing history today. Who knows how life will be viewed right now till in the future.
@@elijahthesage8510 "Slavery from the Americas and beyond affects me as a "Latino" living in the US" no. You are not effected by slavery whatsoever. in any way. Not at all.
@@harraldschmitt9113 Uh, okay. So you've been watching my life for the past twenty years? You know where I live, the family I have here and across the hemisphere? Hm? You know the color of my skin, the way I speak the way I act and all other mannerisms? What's your background huh that makes you think you know it all. Is it simple for you to know who you are, if so why? You don't know anything about me
Papa Legba is the Lows most often met at crossroads, a lot of people confuse Samedi and Legba. Legba is more silver tongued and slippery that Samedi with humans. Samedi is often slippery with the other Lowa. Visio is not a form of black magic, it encompasses the whole world which is both light and dark.
Hailz to Baton Samedi ❤ da Great Baron & His Power is very real ...when You know You know ... Hailz to Maman Brigette ❤ Excellent video ❤ May the right Gates be open & shut for You ×××
Haitians will go to church yet when home put coins in the corners of their rooms. A pagan practice. Not all. Yet remember you can not serve two masters. Conflict arises…do you understand?
What I remember about the rise of the Empire is... is how quiet it was... during the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st Legion was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant... It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen; what we were about to do... did we have any doubts? Any private traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Coruscant. Not when Order 66 came down. And not when we marched into the Jedi temple... Not a word...
The lwa are not identical to Orisha all orisha are from Africa some lwa comes from Haiti and been Haiti since before the European ships came to the Americas. Their origins are not the same. Gyenyame and bondye are the not the same deity
I think Barron Samedi is another reincarnation of Eshu the trickster & messenger. It’s interesting how you speak so definitively about spirits and frequencies.
