Baroque Painting (Baroque Art: Part I) 

Thank you SO MUCH for this information!! I'm currently taking Art History II and I feel awful because I've just never found myself attracted to or interested in art before the 1800's. I've been having such a difficult time with this class because I cannot for the life of me keep focused on reading page after page about it. It's just so monotonous to me and I feel like I've learned almost nothing. And I have to write a paper and I was just like, dangit I haven't gotten anything. I decided to finally search RU-vid in hopes of finding a video with helpful information that would hopefully keep me half interested and able to understand a bit better. And yours popped up immediately. And Holy smokes I am SO GRATEFUL for you!!! You made me crack up and stay not only focused but also learning a ton all the while keeping it interesting. Oh my goodness. In what kind of a messed-up society does a woman have to go through torture to verify her testimony of being a rape victim? That was SO horrifying that that is all that is stuck in my head at the end of this clip. So she had to go through the trauma of being raped AND tortured.... :(

I think it's interesting that Caravaggio did not realistically paint the blood of Holofernes, given that he was a murderer. I wonder why he chose not to do that--obviously it wasn't due to a lack of technical skill or ignorance to what real-blood looked like.
