Loved the bloopers!!! We have 15 females, but thought one might be a cockerel. After seeing yours, Franklin is definitely a “Franklina.” Haha! Thanks so much!
Watch my ISA brown video. You definitely need some of those. I love ISA Browns, barred rocks, any Orpingtons, French Marans and welsummer. I really love all chickens!🤣 Blessings on your coop!🐓
@@GrannysCoop Okay. I'll try and get some ISA Browns as well. I'd like to get 8 to 10 laying hens and 1 rooster. I've heard good and bad things about sexting chickens at Tractor Supply which is where I plan on buying them. If you've got a minute let me know your opinion. Either way, I enjoyed your video and subscribed.
@Pops Coulter Don't ever trust Tractor Supply when they say all Pullets. 🤣 Just remember if you only want barred rock females, try not to get any with a white dot on their heads (females also have darker legs). When it comes to ISA browns, females are darker, males are whiter and lighter in color. I keep 2 rooster, but they do better if they are raised as chicks together. 🐓🐓 I always need one for backup. Thank you so much for subscribing! Hope I helped.😊
Great video! I'm getting bummed out after watching this. We asked our store for a barred Rock rooster, and after seeing this I'm suspecting we have a female. The store gave us three of the wrong breeds, and now I can see they got the fourth one wrong too. We ordered 8 chicks, two are exactly what we ordered, and the rest are debatable. Like the Cinnamon Queen, they gave us a Comet, and so on. Just a nightmare. I guess Louie is going to be Lucy.
I have the same luck at Tractor supply. What was supposed to be a welsummer, ended up being half welsummer and half Easter egger. They can be marked pullets and there is always little roosters hiding in there.🤣 Also, most of the time the employees don’t have have a clue about breeds of chickens. I loooooove barred rock chickens though.🥰🐥
Thank you so much for this. I put a picture of mine on a chicken group when I got them and people were telling me it looks like half roosters bc they had the bigger white spots on their heads, but now they all look like your hands and they're about 6 weeks old I'm not totally sure they might be five weeks because they were two or three weeks old when I got them at rural King. They said that they were pullets and they guarantee them to be but I was like who's going to take it rooster back for the few dollars you pay because you have way more in food into them. Would 5 week olds look about the same also? I definitely don't have any red Combs showing , just little pale ridges basically, but they don't look quite as dark as your hen but not near as light colored as the rooster either.
The Roos wattles and combs should be showing more at about 8-10 weeks. Do they look all the same or are there any differences in the shades? If you want you can send me a picture of them to my email and let me see them. I might can help . 😊🐥
@@GrannysCoop ,thanks so much for your reply. Yes they all look pretty much the same . I'm actually supposed to have 4 barred rock and 2 cucko marans . A couple are slightly smaller and I read they look a lot like the BR ,do you agree? I don't see a difference in their pattern yet either. I will try to get a good pic tomorrow, where do I find your email? I'm sure hoping they are girls 👍 One rooster would be fine lol
My email is under my channel info. Cuckoo Marans egg are a chocolate brown and beautiful. It’s really hard to tell the difference between them and barred rocks. The barring on the rocks are a little more refined. They are both beautiful birds.
@@GrannysCoop , yes we've bought them because we seen a picture of the eggs on their chart so I was going to get three and three but they only had four so I didn't want to leave just one so I only got two cuz they seemed a little flighty also LOL And four of the barred Rock and it wasn't till after I got home I noticed that they all looked exactly the same LOL except for some of them had the bigger white spots. From my research I did see that it says the morons have less of a pattern than the barred Rock but I don't see any difference yet. I just took some pictures so I'll find your email and send them to you thank you so much 👍😀
@@GrannysCoop ,well I can't find your email lol I looked everywhere ,and I subscribed and looked there also. I don't see channel info . Maybe bc I'm on a smartphone? It wasn't in "about" or channels. 🐓
They enjoy being picked up? Lmfao tell that to my 6 weeks.. as the ones biting me and they all fly around like they're gonna die lol just walking into there little coop
🤣🤣🤣 This made me laugh. I swear I could picture this in my head. They really are a great breed. Something that might help is to move really slowly when reaching for them. also, just be around them for periods of time without trying to pick them up. I swear, I’m still picturing this.🤣
It really depends on the chicken. I’ve had a few bossy ones, but for the most part they have been great. The ISA brown chicken is so far the nicest chicken I’ve had. I have never owned a mean one.😊🐔
It’s my husband. I don’t mean anything disrespectful by it. It’s actually a compliment to my husband. I’ve called him that for 30 years and he is mine. He is one of the most hardest working men on this planet. I call him that because he travels all over the place and never works in the same place or on the same thing. Sorry if you take offense.
