Barrel Cleaning 

Man I am going through these older videos and I have learned more in a week than I did in the previous 37 years of my life

plated bullets are great for practice or local matches but we don't use them in major matches.

Funny, had not heard the old “fire a few jacketed rounds at the end of practice to clean out the lead “ in years. That was taught in the academy back in the 70s for our .41 magnums. Guess they were onto something then, but we still had to clean the bores.

you can run wet patches but it's not necessary. shooting jacketed bullets will clean out any lead in the barrel.

I only ever clean the chamber and ramp/breach face. And outside ligs and what not. But inside the barrel I only ever run bore snakes through all my pistols a few times. Never use rods and brushes, never a problem

Probably shouldn’t over clean but I would think for storage, you’re going to at least want some oil in the barrel. A bullet isn’t going to clean the grooves.

Pretty sure some guns will run 100% on coated bullets. YMMV

Did you say don't shoot polymer coated bullets in matches?

If you care about your gun running 100% at matches you should be shooting jacketed bullets

What happens to all the unburnt powder inside the bore? Should i just leave it there? Theres also carbon buildup at the muzzle if its not cleaned

What if I just run some wet patches of Gun Oil down my barrel to clean it followed by a Dry Patch ?

How about the crown? Any considerations/tips?

2011 and 1911s it's not worth the risk

stay away from the crown with anything more then a cloth

what is the drill bit looking think?is that hard stone or soft sponge and where do i get it
