Great flight, I almost always buy Rare Breed over Bookers just because of the value where RB is at least $30 -$40 less a bottle. Bookers is my choice at a restaurant as it is usually available and as you found gets better the longer it is in the glass so I can sip on it through the whole meal

Been drinking Rare Breed thanks to your suggestion and it is amazing as well as noticeable less expensive then Booker's. Might have to see what the finals bring to the table for my next purchase. Thanks for expanding my palate and knowledge.

Considering Rare Breed is half the price of Bookers (in my area) and it was so close in this blind fight, Wild Turkey Rare Breed is the real winner here. I do own it and love it so I was pulling for it to win this flight! :) Great job guys, this has been my favorite series of yours so far.

I'm hopeful someone in the press does a TV story about the bourbon boom in the U.S. and focuses on how videos like It's Bourbon Night helps drive it. You guys deserve wider notice. You put in the work and the presentation is one of the better ones.

This one was a LOT of fun for me because for the first time I actually OWN all the bourbons you tasted! Honestly it is hard for me to ever pick ANYTHING over Bookers (even the 2018-02) but these are ALL great sips. I just discovered Rare Breed a few months ago and I am amazed at the really top flight whiskeys being produced by the often over looked Wild Turkey people! (Love that Russel's Reserve too!)

I don't doubt that bookers is a good bourbon but there's 1 big difference between the 2, and that's bang for your buck. For $46 (in my area) you can get rare breed, whereas bookers is much more expensive and hard to find. That might be the best value in cask strength bourbon.

I know I'm late to the party, but you guys have become my favorite whiskey reviewers, keeping it entertaining and unpretentious. I have not had the opportunity to try the Booker's as it is almost double the money of the Rare Breed in my state. Maybe I should get the nerve to pay $80? Meanwhile I am sipping on my 2nd bottle of 116.8 and it's delicious, I'm sure glad it was a strong second for you!

Good flight guys, Bookers will always be in my bar. It's been a year since I had rare breed, I have to revisit that one. I bet ECBP and Booker will end up top 2. Cheers

Me and my nephew would do comparisons and I always found myself using different little things to figure out which was which instead of just comparing the taste and smell... so, now we pour a glass for each other and then try them together and have no idea what it is. I have over 50 bottles between Scotch, Bourbon, Irish Whisky and Japanese Whisky and that is our first goal, to guess which it is. Then for "bonus points" we try to guess the brand. When the only thing you have to go on is knowing what is in your collection, it is very interesting... especially since I have a bad memory and regularly forget what I have hahahaha

Bookers is $90 Canadian almost everywhere I go, sometimes $80 I can get the 2017 release Rare Breed for $45 Canadian. Both are really good, but bookers isn’t twice as good.

Great review. Wtrb is one of the best for the $ and it's 65 in Ontario , but 4 Rose's sb at 53 is probably #1 imo. I stock both. :)

I just grabbed a bottle of rare breed and have been really enjoying it!! I’m not a fan of bookers and I can appreciate makers but I always taste distilled water in makers, maybe I’m weird lol!

Any plans to do a tasting of the new Old Carter Bourbon? I haven't found much on it but hear it's wonderful and would like to find a review before dropping $$$ if possible. Thanks, keep up the great work!

Rare Breed is generally around $50 while Bookers is around $70...those prices can fluctuate a little but thats generally the case around here...and I know 1792 Full Proof was last Flight but it’s $43 or so....so yeah, Bookers is good and all but $43 and $50 for 1792 and Rare Breed is hard to beat.

You should have had Stagg Jr in that flight instead of Makers.. Why why why would you put a wheater in that mix??? lol.. Then again, one drink of batch 9 will give you tongue fatigue by itself haha

I had thought you did a Booker's shoot out, but now I can't find it. What do you recommend? I see a bunch of comments below saying how Bookers pricing doesn't warrant picking it up over RB but can someone tell me which one they'd rather choose between Bakers and RB? Anyone who prefers Bakers... does it constitute the $8 difference (that's what it is in my area).

I opened the Bakers and while it's good and I'm enjoying, I prefer the Rare Breed (mine is LL/LF Dec 2017). The Bakers is sweeter, drinks below it's 107 proof, has a slight nutty character (that's for Chad). It's not a very challenging whiskey, put very pleasant. The Rare Breed is much more complex and for me interesting; more oak, some cherry (which I like in a bourbon), pepper, honey, leather and has a longer finish. The 2018 Rare Breeds are supposed to be even better (I wonder if that's what Chad and Sara reviewed?). I see nothing wrong with having both in your liquor cabinet, but if I had to pick one - Rare Breed.
