"They have to be 700ml to be distributed internationally. They're not just cheating you out of 50ml." Oh, so they are cheating us out of 50ml. Literally every whiskey has to be 700ml overseas. That's never stopped them from selling 750ml bottles in the US before. Just another dumb excuse to gouge US consumers.
@ItsBourbonNight thanks. It's actually the channel names that I was asking about. If you mentioned the names, I missed it. And I'm pretty much blind, so if you put it graphics on the screen, I can't see those. I tried going through the transcript, bit still didn't find them.
Was this a sponsored video? Love your content, but this video felt like a sales pitch for the brand. Your objectivity is the main reason I watch, which seemed like y'all didn't want to be totally honest to not hurt the Henderson's feelings after inviting you to their event.
@@danw6530 No, not a sponsored video, no payment traded hands. However, we were invited to the launch party and given a bottle of each whiskey, so that in a way is a form of payment. That said, if we didn’t attend the event we couldn’t have passed on the info we learned or have done a review before the product is available. We always have to stay objective with things like this because it’s our reputation as reviewers that’s on the line. Ultimately, we stand by our review: the Bourbon tastes great and the rye isn’t something we’ll be reaching towards for a neat pour, but found we like it in cocktails and in food pairings.
I don't think I could be less excited for a whiskey release. As if we needed the Hendersons to release more whiskies that are way too heavily finished and then charge a premium for them. Not to mention the cheesy name and bottles that look like they belong in the diary section. They may as well tack "Bro" onto the end of the name to complete the cringe.
I have been wanting to stay that castle, True Story. These sound interesting and seem fairly priced, but not sure if I'll be running to find them. thanks for the honest review as always. cheers
I *hate* those bottles. I dislike untransparent bottles anyway, and in my judgment these bottles don't have anything about them which makes the blank surface tolerable. I can put up with the brown glass of the Abasolo bottle because the shape of the bottle, the embossing on it, and the label are all attractive. But these bottles look like someone found them at a garage sale for two bits apiece.
I like drinking this stuff no matter what - but where this stuff really shines is batting relief (your first drink is your rare/allocated stuff - follow it up with this).
Need to see some more reviews of the boujee-er bottles. Don’t really see y’all do that anymore. I’ve never seen it as a flex. I like to see the fancy bottle reviews… do a review of this year (2024) birthday bourbon. It’s the highest proof ever at 107. It’s gotta be great. But would like to hear your thoughts
I have only read about the castle in magazines and online. But I have seen the Ark, but I don't think a distillery next door would work. I DONT like the solid bottles, I want to see the bourbon. Remember you eat and drink with your eyes first....then smell......then taste.
Versailles... True Story: Waaaay back in 2007, we shot our first RU-vid whisky series at Woodford Reserve. Julie was on camera and we shot a pile of stuff before anyone told us that we were "saying it wrong'. As bi-lingual Canadians, we were a little taken aback and in the edit I had to loop Julie's pronunciation in all but one take.
You think Versailles is tough, you oughta visit Texas. We have Mexia, Gruene, and Boerne. And San Angelo and San Jacinto don't sound as you'd expect. 🤠
I agree. Not being able to see the Bourbon eliminates your sense of sight to compliment the smell and taste of the bourbon. You have heard the saying that "You eat with your eyes first" which applies here.
@@thomasaccuntius9946 Agreed. But if you are nosing and tasting the bourbon I would hope it’s in a glass by that point 😂 haha! In which case you could then see the color. 😁
It annoys me when I can't (easily) see the level of the whisky in the bottle. The only thing I've had thus far where I can't just glance and see the level is Abasolo Mexican corn whisky - the bottle is brown glass, and it takes some doing to see how much whisky is left.
Was able to get a bottle today, loved it! I expect it to get even better as it opens. I didn’t think the spiciness was overpowering. I definitely did not think it drank hotter than a barrel select of their bourbon. Can’t wait to try it in an old fashioned.
You guys had my full respect, but when you tried out Foursquare you dropped 10 points, I thought you were beyond incompetent reviews, Foursquare are quality!!!! It's not always what you like, you should focus on, are there a product with some substance and quality that you are tasting !!!!
