You're wrong about accuracy. My big brother drove an M2 Bradley in Panama. His gunner had a scope mounted upon a Ma duece and was by my brothers account, extremely accurate.
Tom, Audie Murphy used an M-2 Browning against German Infantry, ending a potential German break out. He saved the day and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. So it can be used to great affect against infantry assaults.
I beg to differ! The longest successful sniper kill is at 3450 meters, with a Barrett .50. Eleven of the 21 longest sniper kills were done with .50 cal's. This cartridge has excellent long range stability. It is a sniper rifle.
These .50 cal rifles are actually very accurate as a sniper rifle in capable hands. And they can reach at very far distances for 1 shot kill. I myself am a Desert Shield/Storm veteran. Nice find! Wish I owned it myself! 😉
Tom, Carlos Hathcock put a scope on a Browning M2 HB .50 caliber in Vetinam and used it as a sniper weapon. Look forward to seeing more about the Show of Shows. Keep up the good work.
From what I've read online a few of these first 100 m82a1s that were used in desert storm were sent back to Barrett sometime after the war to be replaced with the m107a1 which had implemented some changes that the military requested. A similar thing happened a few years ago with the Sig m17 pistol after the first batch was used in the field by the soldiers and then sent back to sig with requests for a few design changes to the trigger and control colors and sig sold those off to the public too
The muzzle break reduces the recoil noticeably!!!! At your convenience do a bit of research about " Sniper rifles". The smallest round in diameter will be used a true military sniper will be of 7 mm (.284) to .338 mm in diameter. Most US long range sniper range will be .308 in diameter. These ranging from the 7.62mm ( .308), to 300 Winchester magnum to the larger .338 Lauper magnum. Some Barrett's in .460 diameter to the Browning .50 dia.
I'm not surprised the way this country is run nowadays they leave weapons and equipment for the Taliban the Taliban probably has quite a few of these rifles courtesy of Uncle Joe
Lots of ways things like this can happen. My guess would be that it was turned in by its owning unit after they received a directive to do so. At the depot level, companies are contracted to refurbish, destroy, cannibalize, divest, sell, recycle, etc, equipment that has been turned in. This being a semi-auto rifle, it isn’t too big a stretch to sell if a contractor was simply contracted to “get rid” of the gun and was licensed to do so.
@@slit555 that wouldn't be the only weapon they wandered off somewhere some of these conflicts you have Russian weapons or I should say Soviet weapons WWII German weapons and it goes on and you have the same going on in Ukraine now the economy is bad now it's time for the United States go to War
I thought on an earlier video that you had shown a DWM model 22, if so could you possibly provide some more information in a future video about this pistol? I never knew that this pistol existed and it is very interesting.
Being Dutch not being much around guns I think..just think that the gun some 10k euro will cost. Did the US millitairy leave such guns behind in Afghanistan?
With tools such as this available, and hundreds of thousands of veterans generously trained with American taxpayer dollars... why is the USA under enemy control? Cowardly oath breakers.
Tom, you should be ashamed that you've yet to fire one of these. What are you doing with your life? Stop chasing the stories and $$$ once in a while and get out to the range.
Tom 223 and 556 are the same round!! and Ronnie Barret was a gun nut who wanted to shoot 50 cal with tax stamps or the dumbass waiting period!! Ronnie says it's a 3 MOA gun! in the litterbox a sniper with a barret blew 2 enemy combatants in half with the same round at about 1,200 yards si it's accurate once you're used to it!!
