Barrio Logan Then & Now: Revisiting 1980s series on San Diego neighborhoods 

I remember on 2004 I was running with a Puerto Rican basketball jersey. I got jumped. It didn't matter if my mom is Mexican. It wasn't easy being half Puerto Rican and Mexican. But now it's definitely gotten better. I feel confident while I go there. Because I am proud to be Half Mexican. Because I know what I believe in myself and my heritage

Grew up in Logan heights I miss that neighborhood

My dad ( RIP ) was 1 of many people who helped in the making of CHICANO PARK.

I started teaching at Memorial Jr. High School in 1970. I got 10 years of experience in two.

I grew up at Logan in the 80's and 90's by Porkyland tortilleria. It was tough times back then.

A lot of the new businesses are strange to me. I like that more Mexicans are building & owning their own businesses to combat the hipsters.
