Barry Gibb will receive the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of the Bee Gees on Sunday, but the distinction is bittersweet as his brothers and fellow Bee Gee members Robin and Maurice have passed away.
He truly is a great guy. I think he’s exactly what he’s always appeared to be. A humble, appreciative, down to earth guy who has genuinely valued family most of his life. He’s sincere when he gives advice to Bieber and Cyrus. He’s been there and he knows the warning signs. He’s just trying to give his best advice, just as he would his own kids.

Great to see Barry receiving the recognition he, and his late brothers deserve, for their amazing contribution to Popular music. The "Lifetime Achievement Award" has been long overdue for the Gibb Brothers, its just a shame his brothers are not no longer around to join in in this well deserved award. r.i.p. I love when artists are recognized, but with the Bee Gees being so amazing and such legends , I wish they'd been recognized and received this honor sooner. RIP Andy, Maurice and Robin.

No, they are british - born on Isle of Man, moved to Manchester and then to Australia, returned to England and then moved to US - only Robin stayed in England. I think that Barry is now US citizen

So sad to hear that. I miss those harmonies i can't imagine how hard it is for someone who performed with siblings his entire life. Sometimes a coworker can be closer than a sibling, but if your brothers were your band members for nearly 50 years i can't even imagine that sense of loss. I have co-workers that I'm closer to than my siblings. I can tell my current chef just about anything. Because he was a former coworker and we have worked together under pressure both collectively and independently but we had each other's back in the past he knows i have his back now, and he has my back also. I just can't even imagine what a temendous loss that is for him. Frankly it makes me a little teary to even think about.
Although the songs from Saturday Night Fever were a phenomenal success in their connection to the movie, I think it's kind of a shame that so many other spectacular songs that they have written and recorded are rarely mentioned in these interviews, particularly here in the U.S. The "fever" craze was really a very small portion of the mind-blowing career of the Bee Gees.
I’m responding to a comment made 3 years ago. I was in my 20s when Saturday Night Fever was out. I really thought that’s when The Bee Gees began. I was all in to disco. I remember loving I Started a Joke when I was young but never put two and two together. I’m rediscovering this amazing band of brothers all over again and loving it!

George Foster It is so easy to see from concert footage and interviews over the years how much Barry enjoyed and appreciated his brothers, Maurice and Robin. He laughed easily at their jokes and was quick to join in the fun. They all shared similar senses of humor. He smiled in appreciation when they were hitting the difficult notes during concerts. During interviews he was quick to highlight Robin’s and Maurice’s unique and irreplaceable contributions to the success of the group. The two songs he listed as favorites or representative of the group, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart and Lonely Days, were both written and released shortly after they had reunited in 1970. Footage from their teen years through one of their last concerts show them offering nonverbal gestures of support and gratitude for each other. They undoubtedly challenged each other at times (all three stated as much) but your statement about Barry goes against so much evidence that I’ve seen to the contrary. It’s bewildering to me.

@@cleandrochristian4325 - When the three brothers wrote those songs they said they didn't even know what "disco" was. To them it was R&B. They didn't adopt disco, it adopted them. Saturday Night Fever used their songs and they got labelled. They had wonderful music and many styles before and after the mid 70's so called disco era starting in the 60's when I first knew them but disco was always shoved in their face like in this interview as if that was all they ever did. Robin said you can dance to a lot of music but that doesn't make it disco. They didn't really like being labelled only a disco act and it almost destroyed their careers. The idiot DJ's in the US wouldn't play their music in the 80's and 90's. Their loss. How stupid! What other group was ever treated that badly? None! They said that era of their music was R&B and there were a lot of groups like The Stylistics who sang falsetto and did R&B before them. They happened to like those groups and did R&B for a change from their other styles. People who only know the so called disco era of The Bee Gees are not just clueless but also missing a lot of music. Actually that era of their music was my least favorite.
