I remember a few of Barry's classes. I remember that the guitarists and pianists had their exclusive classes just for them. I certainly felt I was missing something. But his vocal classes were so much fun and very profound musically. We were the luckiest ones I feel now that I watch your video. Thanks for sharing

This is great! I so wish I had been able to attend a class in person. I was fortunate enough to do his online classes in those last couple of years.

It is indeed sad, I never met Dr Harris, but i have learned alot from his musical experience and his method of teaching. We shall forever remember him and continue with his teaching as we grow much into the world of jazz. Shan thanks for sharing your experiences with Dr Harris. Much appreciated South Africa. Thank you so much. You might be one among others to carry the message of music that Prof. Harris left behind. It is a message that needs to be told!

Thank you so much for this. So funny, moving and inspirational. Just like Barry. I have been fortunate to have been among those that attended his online classes for the past 18 months or so. It was such a gift and I can only imagine what it must have been like to have had the relationship with him that you did. Again, thank you so much for this.

I learned second-hand the Clark Terry method as a horn player. All the original heavy weights that Barry Harris mentioned had the same general school of thought about harmony and improvisation. It's true what he said about the collegiate "Jazz" education systems. It was amazing how familiar I was with his use of half steps, diminished, and tritones. Just wish I would have kept pushing on. But, it made me a better musician in general. I've really enjoyed the Barry Harris videos. It's nice to hear your story of your experience with one of the last heavy weights.

I really wish I knew about Barry sooner. I am even from Detroit, the same place as him. By the time I discovered him it was already about 2020. Do you know about Barry’s song called “My dream came true”? It’s kinda like a bossa, I heard “Isaac Raz” teaching the song when talking about Barrys 6th chord rules. It’s such a smooth song

It's great to hear your personal story about Barry Harris. It's very important that people like yourself who understood what he was about and experienced his commitment to music and his students are here on RU-vid. There are a lot of videos of Mr. Harris floating around and they don't fully convey his spirit and soul, but his legacy and his influence will live on through his students and his work.

That was a great tribute to Barry Harris. I decided to look at the Barry Harris method a few years ago and tried a few different sites on the internet. I'm now on two separate teaching sites. Both teach me a lot. One teaches in the "traditional" way of learning jazz theory and I've learned a great deal, but jazz skills is without question the site to learn the Barry Harris method of finding movement in your keyboard playing.
