People really still sleeping on this man's mastery, he treats the piano as an extension of himself. IT doesn't even look like he's "playing" it ... it kinda looks like he's massaging it and its making nice noises lmaoooo. Real legend right here. ... I'm young but if I ain't mastered nothing on piano I've got that 6th Dim down.

God bless Barry Harris! I studied with him back in the 1980s and recorded a demo tape of ten songs with him. Leroy Williams played drums, and one of Barry's other students, John Donnelly, played bass. it was an absolutely incredible experience. May he live, and play, forever.

I'm a bassist. I feel so sad because im just 24 and never got to know barry. Luckily a lot of his classes are avialble on youtube. I like how he complimented and liked that octave bass lick on Nascimento 1:29:48 very cliché those times but must be good because Barry licked it!

Barry loved to insert "Cocktails for Two" into his solos. He does it a couple of during "7-4-5-3". At the beginning of his solo and again at 17:30

In his master class on 'the and' he mentions that they always used to go to dance halls to hear jazz. (He was possibly commenting on how people say jazz is not popular because you can't dance to it - in other words, he was saying you CAN!)

So sad to hear of Barry's recent passing apparently from complications relating to Covid 19.

Barry's had breathing problems for awhile, on and off, pre-covid. He had to have breathing treatments occasionally. If you look at older videos, he always had a cigarette. Breathing problems are harder to fight as you get older. If he had been in the hospital prior to the Covid marketing era, they would have called it pneumonia. Regardless, may Barry rest in Power. I will cherish his memory and his work forever.
