@@massivemario I thought that was where the show was always leading, and that was he original intent when Kreisberg was running the show. Except he wouldn't become the lightning since he had more experience than the original Barry Allen who became the Flash in 2020. Meaning he could send back a bolt of lightning to strike himself without having to become it. But it doesn't seem like Wallace has any intention of doing so since he said he thought both season 7 and season 8 was going to be his final seasons before getting renewed. And with how things are set up in this new prime universe, it would no longer make sense for our Barry to end up back there. Because the timeline in which that originally took place has changed 7 times, along with it being a completely other earth than the one in which Barry needed to do so because of Thawne losing in Crisis. I wouldn't bet a lot of money on it, but I do feel like this was them telling their final Thawne story. And really unless they decide to borrow from the previous run of Flash before the current one. Where Thawne managed to become a sort of speed force ghost that after getting killed by Dr. Mahatten. That could go around putting thoughts in people's head thinking it was their own, not sure how many new stories they could really tell with Thawne. Barry seems to be officially done with him, even giving him a final chance to live by warning him to not unleash the forces blast.

Didn't they already have him run back and stop himself from saving her, when he tried to fix Flashpoint?

I’m just glad Thawne is finally gone. And I hope the members of Team Flash learned their lesson from all this. They convinced Barry to save Thawne’s life during Armageddon and if Barry had just let Thawne die like he was going to, none of this garbage would have happened. Thawne may have pulled the trigger, but Chester, Allegra, Joe and Cecile put the gun in Thawne’s hand. So after almost getting the world killed I hope they learned their lesson

@@pyro4622 Didn't mean to go on such a rant. I promise I'm not crazy, well not that crazy. I just can't get out of bed without assistance. Spend most of my time in my very expensive bed, so I use entertainment, along with writing for fun, to escape my daily life. And the reason I've gone into such detail is not because I want to hate on the show, I just want to love it like I did the first 3 seasons. The main things would like to talk to him about is. I understand that they needed to get rid of Kreisberg because of what he did. The thing I don't understand is that Kreisberg in a 2 hour podcast about the show after the first few episode of legends ha dropped. He couldn't obviously tell everything and go into too many spesific details. But it was clear they had a show bible, Kreisberg was the only person Berlanti told during the s1 arrow mid season break that the reason he started making Arrow. Was if it became a success he could leverage that into making a Flash show since it would be more expensive to start with Flash. And they had a story bible of how they wanted the show to go leading up to crisis and potentially beyond. And even though season 4 and season 5 had it's problem with each of the new showrunners. Overall it felt like they were still working towards it. Thawne literally says in the flash s5 finale "see you at our next crisis" only to never show up on Crisis on infinite earths as was clearly the plan. Is still a sore point for me. To the point where I actually did a 20 page rewrite. Lost that rewrite because my latop died, but I did write a shorter synopsis as a response to another commenter a couple months ago. If you have read this far and you are interested in reading a different version of Crisis of Infinite earths that I think would have been doable on their budget. I can copy paste it. It just seemed he was more interested in putting his own stamp on the show than continue using the breadcrumbs from previous seasons. Dealing the show up to having more than one big bad was clever. But they haven't managed to have a good big bad on the show since DeVoe (when the actual actor got to play the character). Which was the final character Kreisberg had helped the writing staff set up on Flash while he was busy helping writing Crisis on Earth X. Wanting to evolve a show beyond what it was can be great, but only if you manage to do something that was better than before. It's not that he could not experiment and do none of his own stories. I know people started hating Felicity over time, and in season 4 they did her dirty and made her very irrational. But I still view her as a happy accident because I never felt there was any chemistry between Oliver and Laurel, I could buy them hooking up because they were both pretty people but out of all the women Oliver was dating during the show the only one who was worse was Huntress. The big difference being, if Huntress had ended up being great I could have seen her staying on the show. But they could tell she wasn't working so she never really came back except one or twice afterwards. The opposite of what Flash does which just forces characters on you that doesn't work. Like Kamilla and Chill Lame, not to mention the replacement romance of Allegra and Chester because they had to ditch the Ralph and Sue Romance. I don't know why the the actress who played Gypsy left. I'm guessing she got offered a series regular job and left since they only gave her a small recurring role. They should have promoted her to series regular to keep her. Kamilla just felt written as Cisco's girlfriend and that was her whole character. Not the actress fault to be given nothing to work with, but they also didn't have chemistry. Unlike what we saw with Cisco and Gypsy I always felt like when the show would end we would get to find out that they eventually did get back together. I could not stand Ralph for most of season 4. I tolerated him in season 5, and then Wallace did the impossible which I will give him credit for. He made me love Ralph and I thought him and Sue were so great together. I actually think Wallace managed to write Ralph better and gave him better material than Barry in season 6. Only to fire him for having bad jokes on twitter. So the best thing he's done as showrunner he threw out the window. And the actors did go on the "this was not acceptable to say" tour. But you won't get me to believe that he ever did anything which made the cast uncomfortable when they already had a perfect way to write him out in season 4. And they would have fired him during filming of season 5 and 6 if he'd done anything unacceptable. It's not like they haven't let their problems be heard in the past. So I will admit I have a bit of schadenfreude with what is happening with Ezra, since around the same month or two that he got fired for jokes. Ezra was caught choking a woman. And Wallace would have needed permission from WB to fire Sawyer. So they only have themselves to blame for the bed they are now laying in.

@@tobsonasanya4765 yes Barry and Oliver used the staff Savage used to destroy central city before Barry ran back in time. On the second run took the staff from him, and killed Savage. Then they did a set up where Merlyn seemingly took Savages ashes that was left after being disintegrated and Merlyn said something about not forgetting who did him a favor while picking the ashes up. Only for the writers to forget about that completely and retconning in Legends the reason Savage came back to life was because neither Kendra or Carter were the ones who dealt the killing blow. But at that time Barry didn't know Savage would come back so while Oliver has killed before, Barry very much on purpose committed what he thought was his first kill. Which also is strange when Oliver in season 4 as all about not killing (until he killed Damian Dahrk), even yelling at Thea when he thought she had killed Savage in their home. Only for him to with intent try to kill Savage himself with Barry using those special gauntlets that would protect Barry from being killed using the staff.

To be honest, if we compare this fight to their race in Armageddon, it's really child's play. Without all this power, they almost destroyed the entire planet. If a new negative speedster actually show up, as long as they are really fast, the scales should be high enough.

Black Racer is leagues above Thawne in the comics. Plus he's a multiverse threat so Barry will have a hard time dealing with him

Except Harry is part of the original Harrison from Earth 1 now. Earth 1 Harrison, whose back from the dead last season, has all of the memories of the multi Harrisons, even Harry's. They are one and part of him now. Though whatever season will be the last, either s9 or potential s10 (as hinted by the maker in an interview), it's possible friends and allies of Flash, such as Jesse Quick (though unknown for now), Wally, etc could return, reunite, and fight in a similar way that happened in the last Arrow season.

I think this is the definitive end of the Thawne that posed as Wells and set off the Particle Accelerator back in season one. But there is _a_ Thawne that will come back in the series finale for them to have that final race to the night Barry's mom died to continue the cycle.
