Had the privilege of watching Barry live many times at the Silverdome. I don't wanna sound biased, because I'm a huge Lions fan, but in my 40 years of watching the NFL and College, I've never seen a more electrifying player. Barry was unreal.

+The Answer I don't want to speak to soon but Jay Ajayi with the Dolphins could be our man. Haven't seen a guy run like him since AP in his prime year and reminded me a bit of Barry Sanders. @agonzalez8924
@agonzalez8924 7 лет назад
I think one of the biggest things people fail to notice when they watch Sanders run, he never lowered his shoulder or helmet to initiate contact. Even when he ran into a pile of defenders, he was always looking for that tiny crease or extra block that could help him find daylight. That's why it seems so amazing when you see him escape what looked like should've been a sure tackle, where a lesser rb would accept he is going to get tackled and lower his shoulder. Barry proved time and again that you can gain more yards avoiding tacklers than trying to run through them. Just watch these highlights, you will not see him try and truck a single guy. And its not like he wouldnt have been able to if he tried. Barry had incredible agility and amazing strength for his stature, which is why he was able to juke and break tackles. But he always kept a level head so he could look ahead and watch the play develop, even on plays right up the gut. That was what separated him from others, his vision and relentless pursuit for any kind of leverage that can help him avoid defenders.

As a Bucs fan I HATED Barry Sanders. But the moment he retired I became a huge fan. The guy is easily the best RB I've ever seen, and it's not even close. The Bucs had to deal with Sanders, then the moment he finally retired the stupid Vikings draft Randy Moss, who is the best WR I've ever seen. I miss the old NFC Central days, it's pretty much impossible to get hyped about a rivalry with the Falcons, they're just too boring to matter.

+Andrew 13 Players today celebrate after little things like making a good catch or even getting a first down. And some teams are down like 52-14 and when they score a touchdown they act like they just scored the game winning touchdown. It's so dumb. But when Barry Sanders did like 5 spin moves and breaks 8 people's ankles and scores a touchdown, he acts like it's nothing.

I remember a player saying along the lines of it was easier to walk on ice than to try to tackle Barry Sanders by yourself.

Barry retired in his prime. He averaged 1,500 yards per season and 5 yards per carry behind a garbage o- line and ass bucket qb's. Everyone knew Barry was getting the ball and still couldn't stop him. One more average season and he would've broken Paytons record in just 11 seasons. In 97 he eclipsed 2,000 yds. on 6.1 yds per carry. Those numbers are unreal. A few more carries and he would'be desroyed Dickersons single season record.
