I remember watching him play, he was like a computer game player, pure highlight reel, the most exciting rb I've ever seen in my life

Barry is the closest thing to what our mind would wants a running back to do when he makes a run. We watch a running back make a run and our mind is like why didn’t he throws a move and run that way. But reality is that’s not normal and normal human being can’t do that. Only Barry is able to come as close to what our mind would want a running back to do.

No disrespect to Jim Brown, Walter Payton or Emmett Smith. Barry Sanders was THE GREATEST RB OF ALL TIME. Not only in The NFL. Barry's last season at Oklahoma State has to be THE most prolific RB college seasons ever. Barry Sanders playing every Sunday was at, one time in my life, what I looked forward to. I was with my kids at University Mall in Suburban Detroit, one morning and Barry and a couple other obvious Lions players walked towards us. I alerted them and I mumble "Hey Mr Sanders you're my favorite NFL player". Sanders replied "Thank you sir, you have a nice family". I've heard about all of the work Barry Sanders has done in the community. Greatest RB, even greater human.

Loved Barry, but I'm thinking his dad was probably right. There's no shame in being #2 behind Jim Brown.

The documentary is very good. Barry is his own man and doesn't live his life or make decisions to please everyone else. I have huge respect for that. As great as he was as a player his ego is well in check.

I guess Scott Mitchell is torqued because of Barry's book, but I have said for years that if the Lions had an even average quarterback when Barry played, they would have won the Super Bowl! The truth hurts, Scott.

About 10 years ago I played 18 rounds of golf with Barry. I was determined to not talk to him about sports because he probably would be over it. He was the coolest, nicest person I’ve far been around. He and I talked for the entire time we played golf. After we played he invited me to lunch with his family and insisted after I told him I didn’t want to intrude on his time with his family. Barry truly is a great guy.

Better than Jim Brown. Better than anyone ever. He would dominate any era. Brown would struggle in the modern NFL where he wasn't the fastest or strongest guy on the field. Jim Brown highlights looked like he was playing against midgets. He was heavier than linebackers and faster.
@Riles3152
@Riles3152 10 месяцев назад
What’s wild is all the people who actually agree with this 😒. Jim Brown would’ve been great in any era of football past the one he played in. The guy was 6’2 232 pounds of almost all sheer muscle and strength. Who is dealing with that even in today’s game? Plus if you actually studied his highlights and film, he was more shiftier, nimble and faster than your clearly not giving him credit for. I love Barry and respect him to the highest, but he wasn’t as big, strong, dominant or tough as Jim Brown or Walter Payton. Plus those guys were every down backs. They didn’t need to be taken out in goal line situation’s like Barry did. They didn’t lose anywhere near as many yards as Barry often did. Barry was spectacular and extraordinary to watch, but Jim Brown dominated the game of football like only a short list of guys at any position dominated there’s.
@MP-mn6we
@MP-mn6we 10 месяцев назад
@@Riles3152 Bo Jackson and Herschel would have dominated as much if not more than Jim Brown if they played in the 50s. They were faster and bigger than Jim Brown and just as shifty.

thank you , surprised i had to scroll far down on the comments before someone brought this up. I love dan and been listening/ watching since on the 101 network. but barry didn’t seem he would have remembered dans name if agent didn’t remind him. it was kind of awkward and dan is usually good and redirecting the conversation but 2 times barry didn’t recall dans story. but i guess we all have bad days because when talking about the game last night he said travis kelce doesn’t drop passes, when he indeed dropped a big one towards the end of 4th qtr.

As a 49ers fan I always hoped their organization would reach out work out a trade. Get Barry a ring, and the rushing title. He retired too soon, similar to Jim Brown. Amazing running back to watch as kid in the 80s and 90s.

Mang I didn’t know Montana wanted to play with the Lions. I remembered that time well because Joe was leaving the 49ers and I was like 100% for sure the Lions is going to grab him. Turned out he wanted to play with the Chiefs and I thought Montana wanted nothing to do with Detroit. Now that I hear he wanted to play with Barry and they turned it down, that’s distasteful!

Barry….you and Lions would never have won a Super Bowl in the 90’s. Not with perennial power houses like Dallas, Denver, and Buffalo (and stacked teams like Minnesota and Greenbay) True, Lions are a mediocre organization but even without Ford ownership they would have never won the Super Bowl. Not even Montana or Moon (although I find those recent revelations unbelievable) would have gotten them to the Super Bowl.
