I loved them both, but I remember that period was hard for R&B Music coming right off the Disco demise. Artists were trying to find their place. And if memory serves me, all the artists retreated to their neutral corners to contribute their own individual styles (e.g. The Gap Band, Roger Troutman, Kashif, Patrice Rushen and the lot). Barry was already so large (no pun intended) in the industry and public consciousness, that it seemed as if he was a tad lost here. Glodean would've faired well with a single of her own and new sound, but fortunately for Barry, his resurgence would come much later with the help of Quincy Jones ;)
