@@PoplarMechanic hey man, did you invent that, tying the tail back to itself with a double fisherman's / scaffold knot? It's brilliant... I tried it today..... love it....
Really great instructions, one things is not every one learns the way someone teaches when it comes to knots, but you really make it easy for the guys that would maybe need to see another style of how to tie those knots, easy to pick up real fast from watching this vid ,good job bro
I learned and tied a bidirectional running alpine butterfly knot with a double overhand for a back up knot today. thanks to you Rich Hattier and the good O Lord
@@PoplarMechanic I noticed a difference knowing I've only been in this industry for three years there is a group of people on Facebook groups that are the worst human beings I've ever met in my life.... The broccoli page that's a great source of information to find out about your Brotherhood? Long story short you keep it on the level you keep it professional and you keep it etiquette I do have a great deal of respect for you because that's why I love this industry so much because there is two sides of it and decide that you represent that's why I got into it in the first place thanks brother
Bad ass bro. I really like the scaffold knot on the end. I've just been using a running bowline with a Yosemite tie off. But I'll have to give this a try.
POPLAR MECHANIC !!! I very like your Base Anchor! Bravo! Bravo!! Bravo!!! 👏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 🇺🇦❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇺🇦 I urgently need to learn your method of tying the Running Alpine Butterfly knot! This will greatly improve my safety in difficult trees!
I got to 1:30 and said "He's using an alpine butterfly for his base anchor." Then I read the description... d'oh!Yes, sometimes I even amaze myself.Really dug the added security at 4:50!
Thanks jack its definitely my favorite one, you always see people adding hardware and making intricate systems, some times simple is best . Stay safe brotha happy new year 💯🤟
Thanks for that video . Could you show a bidirectional running bowling, I've only seen it done twice on RU-vid but those videos are to pixelated. I really appreciate your videos keep it up 👍
Love it. Do you ever use hardware to connect the alpine to reduce rope on rope rub and if so what’s your favorite connector for anchors? My old setup was a cast quickie until I read that they’re produced in China and then sold by tree stuff...sorta messed with my mind haha
Ok so in this case I wouldn't be too worried about rope on rope rub. When I do a canopy anchor I use either a quickie (the milled version, pricy though) or a pinto and carabiner.
Excellent. I often use an alpine butterfly with a quickie. I like the secondary knot to hold the knot in place. Were you referencing Richard Mumford? He is a genius. Thanks for sharing.
@@PoplarMechanic I really like the fisherman sinch. That is now my go to basal anchor since it will not lossen around the trunk if the climbing line goes taught then slack. Thanks for that!
Haha poplars are sketchy but ill do what I can, always back up your rigging, sometimes I backup my tie in, it takes experience, but you can find a balance, and I have been in some of the worst situations possible, at some point it becomes an educated guess, be safe brotha
Alpine Butterfly knots are bullet proof , they don't untie , they can't untie , the stopper knot is just a visual aid to feel more secure but it's not necessary .
Ya they are great knots, the stopper knot here is just to prevent the rope from becoming loose against the tree under no load, Works well with hardware as well, thanks for watching!
