Airmen with the 143d Security Forces Squadron (SFS) conduct crowd control training in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Corrections at Camp Varnum, Narragansett, Rhode Island on May 7, 2023.
The role of a Security Forces Airman is to defend military aircraft, installations and personnel. Air Force operations are extremely critical to homeland, humanitarian and combat situations, therefore, the responsibility of maintaining safety and surveillance falls on these skilled Airmen.
This was the second year the RING has partnered with the RI Department of Correction’s Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT). The Airmen learned techniques from the CERT in how to manage safe and effective crowd control during base defense operations. Partnerships like this are critical to the RING’s mission of having highly trained Guardsmen and women within our ranks, that way we continue to stay #alwaysreadyalwaysthere.
