A very un-official stress test on the new Base Apple M2 Mac Mini. Boot time Launching all computer apps 4K video editing 4K bowser videos and tabs open
I already bought this but I still have to comment and say this is the most helpful/realistic review for 90% of consumers. Great video! 3 month update: it's been running flawlessly! My video editing is seamless, games run exquisitely, and everyday tasks (many of them) run without fail. The ONLY time this little machine has stuttered was when I had about 20-25 tabs open, most of which were add heavy webpages. I also had all of my other apps open at the same time. It quickly snapped back to seamless performance once I got rid of about 4 or 5 tabs. Amazing purchase you guys! If you're a student, it's an easy choice with the discount.
Brandon, thank you for this review. This is probably the most honest test it has on RU-vid, most of this channels keep showing geekbench or whatever this shit means and I DONT CARE, i wanna see speed and performance in a realistic scenary, and this machine is a BEAST because no one uses like this, you really stressed it to it's max, so it will handle pretty much everything for entry AND medium work level, such as Photoshop, high-quality video editing with complex timelines and even some development softwares! This chip is insanely good.
@@ellyhunt Hey Ellyhunt, Could you please confirm Can this Mac Mini M2 8GB run Photoshop and Premiere pro at the same same time? I mean Medium 4k multilayer editing along with Photoshop 10 - 12 4k photos editing
600$ is surprisingly reasonable... can't ask for too much, but apple halving the ssd speed for the m2 256 models is just pathetic, could have kept it the same and NOBODY would complain. Still really think 16GB RAM should be the new standard even for the base in 2023, but well...
Awesome video thanks a lot is it capable to do 4k video editing, software development, 3d app and web development, 3d animation, 3d modeling, vfx, graphics, like some heavy task. I will not use all at once but while using one by one is it a good choice? And I'm not interested in gaming.
Very good video Brandon, the best I found on RU-vid. I have the following dilemma. My Mac mini is very old and I need to replace it. I have a tight budget. I don't know whether to buy a Mac Mini M1 8/512 or a Mac mini M2 8/256 both with a 516 SSD hub. I would use it with Photoshop, Lightroom. Thanks in advance.
Interesting video - thanks. Would you say the base M2 Mini is good enough to act as a media hub for the living room (given the reduced SSD speeds on the 256GB model)? Mainly playing video from an external hard drive, streaming audio and video from the web and maybe some Steam/retro game emulation? No one else seems to have mentioned this use case but I think it would make perfect sense.
I'm worried about the ram if I'm going to get the base model. Currently eating 14 gb ram on Windows with my workload (Unity + Photoshop + Visual Studio + Chrome). $200 is pretty tough add.
