If you are making modules that may be fit together in any order (ie: not always in the same order), then you should make a template so that your holes are in the same relative position on all your baseboards. Another simple way to ensure all the holes for the alignment dowels are properly aligned is to stack and clamp all the end boards together (before assembling the baseboards) and drill all the holes at the same time. They should then all be in the correct place.

That's it if you're making a wholly modular layout like the t-track people, I really do like their work!!

Love the no frills approach - much like my own approach to these things. May I humbly suggest a new sharper drill bit might be in order, particularly for the alignment dowels as they need to be a snug fit to work

Couple of quick questions. Do you just have 1 baseboard with legs at both ends and then additional boards with legs at one end? If you were doing a continuous run board with centre, how would you fit legs and align baseboards?

I do indeed have two boards with two sets of legs, I call it the key board like a keystone on a bridge. This layout is a continuous run with a centre control well. Each long side of the layout has a "key board", and each side will stand up independently of the other. The two 2ft boards between them have no legs.
