What a fab year you have had camping wise. Nick, you have been my inspiration to lose a tremendous amount of weight and go camping with my little Caretta and go hiking again despite my knee. So a massive thank you. You are an inspiration to this country by making us discover some fabulous places through your adventures. And thank you for helping me with the measurements of the Portico. Take care.
We’ve done 3 trips in our base camp and done 3 sites that you have recommended. We’re really enjoying it. We’re getting to know the pros and cons now of the base camp. We have found your RU-vid channel invaluable. Many thanks Lee and Mandy 😊
Thanks for the reflections Nick. The piece relating to awnings was very relatable. I have purchased 4 different awnings for the California so far and got rid of 3 of them. What I have now works okay but I will only bother with it if I am going to be staying in 1 place for a few days. The perfect scenario is where I just use the wind out awning and avoid the faff.
Fascinating mini review / update of your experiences and lessons learned so far. You’re so right that as we all gain more experience by using our vans we modify where we go, what we do and what we take in or attach to the van. Having been a subscriber since the early days of your channel, I have noticed the considerable improvements in the quality of your vlogs and your cinematography skills 👍 In June this year I went back to a caravan, a 2 berth. I love the Basecamp 2 but I sort of felt it might not provide enough room for me and the 3 dogs (rightly or wrongly!). So my caravan is bigger for that reason but who knows in the future 😊. I’d like to thank you for providing the inspiration through your adventures and destinations which have and will shape my own adventures. Keep up the cracking work Nick. As always I shall be waiting eagerly for your next adventure. Cheers 👍
Great video Nick! 👏👏👏 We were going to get rid of our expensive and great quality pole framed full sized Isabella awning in favour of our inflatable porch awning, but found that simply labelling the poles really well so that both me and my partner knew exactly where the poles went - thus being able to put it up quicker, made us rethink. Glad we have kept both. The pole framed awning is far superior in bad weather.
@@graemedawson1509 Great comment👍🏻 If I had a full sized caravan such as coachman of elegance etc I would most certainly have an Isabella awning for it.
I'm just dipping my toe (tow LOL) into caravanning and appreciate all the videos you post - great quality and you can see your developing experiences too. Keep up the great work!
@@patm8369 The app I use to plan and navigate my hikes is called Outdoor Active. I subscribe to it in order to unlock all the features I need which cost around £30 per year ish.
I’m on Nightshift so just watched this during my break. You’ve had a good season so far and it’s been great viewing. 5 awnings mate 😂😂 you are now officially the awning whisper 😂. Interesting regarding pitches i always go for hard standing with a preference for fully serviced which does limit choice a bit. I have now booked my two weeks holiday in Wales next summer both fully serviced. It just makes it easier. However i do still go to EHU only sites. Do you have anything planned for winter or will it be spur of the moment choices? Great wee vlog Nick 👍🏻
@@johnstewart2507 thanks for your comment John. Got my eye on a run up to Dumfries & Galloway in November and we are going to Plas Farm for a weekend this month.
Dumfries and Galloway is a stunning area Nick you’ll love it make sure and visit the Mull of Galloway its awesome and the lighthouse is amazing you can climb up it, the views are stunning. Portpatrick is bonnie isle of Whithorn is lovely also.
@@TangoFourZero Day to day, typically the car has 450 miles range when the petrol tank is full. When we went to Cornwall in the summer towing the Basecamp the drive was 330 miles and I stopped to top up the car with petrol once.
@@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales Thanks, we went to Cornwall this year, 320 miles on a full tank of diesel with 30 miles range left on arrival😱. Range at outset was around 450 I believe, so was interested to know how a hybrid might compare.
@@TangoFourZero something to also consider is the size of fuel tank. My previous car the BMW 320D had a 57 litre diesel tank. The Audi A3 has a 40 litre petrol tank which almost 1/3 smaller.
@@matthewdaly6920 I have, but I didn't hear this question answered, hence why I asked. The reply was interesting as the numbers are very similar to a trip we did this year with a 1.5l diesel.
