The best art on a really big wall is a super cool rug in colors and a style that you love. It centers the room. It warms the room like nothing else. It stops the strange echo that empty rooms have. And you can put a gorgeous flat or 3 dimensional object or three on top of it for depth and character. I had a weird 1960’s long skinny really high window in my living room. I found a 10 foot long runner rug in my style and colors and hung two matching art pieces at each end. Every single person that came into my home commented on how cool it was. When I would tell the friends I cared to share with that it covered that weird window .. they were flabbergasted. “What a great idea!” “How cool!” or “That is so unique.” I used a 8x10’ black, white and taupe rug downstairs behind a mounted tv and table. It really helped to project the sound out into the room and was so calming and gorgeous to look at. It was the centerpiece of the huge room. Just sending ideas and love to you!

An easier way I find to hang a grouping of pictures is to tape off the same space on the floor. Using newspaper or scrap paper to cover the taped-off space, I can more easily arrange everything in a pleasing manner on the floor, mark the paper by tracing around the frames, then I only have to work to align the whole paper on the wall (Instead of six or seven different elements). I use painter's tape to hang the paper where I want it. Then I nail the hangers through the paper where I marked it. Once the hangers are nailed in, I can rip the paper off the wall, the nailed items remain, and I hang my frames.

I'm so happy for you the basement project is finally done! We are almost done with upstairs ourselves! We're waiting on our flooring to be delivered, and once that's installed we can finally get bedroom doors! After 4 years! 😂

Shower curtian rod ends screw off and back on. Makes for easier hanging of curtains. I prefer curtains to doors on closets.

I don’t hang much on my walls either. One thing I’ve found is that I’m not much of a decorator. I’m just not good at it & I hate having things I gotta dust My sons closet door is also a nice curtain.

OMG that's hilarious with the sectional flying out of the Uhaul. I mean, I'm sure it wasn't at the time but I had a similar situation w/a recliner we were hauling down a one lane highway on a trailer that flew off. Other than a few scrapes it was fine and thank goodness no one was behind us and it landed on the side of the road instead of the middle.

I was saying noooo use velcro command strips as you were nailing into your wall. Also using painters tape and a level as a starting line is helpful and you can mark the pencil right on the painters tape so less marks and damage to your wall. The basement looks great.

I know last video you were still having issues with onions, my eyes water really bad too what I find that works is that once you cut the onion in half rinse the cut pieces in cold water for a minute or so. I hope this help if you haven’t tried it yet!

Don't add more pictures. You need some texture. I suggest getting some floating shelves in a distressed finish similar to your cabinet and then putting some fake trailing plants or something with a pop of color and then add some cushions to your couch. It's a beautiful space now you just. need more color and texture. Plus pillows are great for support and pillow fights! :)

The bottom hem is always bigger than the top hem....so turn your drapes/curtains upside down and slide the rod through the larger opening.

Your family sure are hard workers The walls are great. My aunt tried to paint her popcorn ceilings and the stuff and new paint fell off. Looks like you still had to do all the prep work, which is always the hardest, except for cleaning up. I like the pictures. Or rather the quotes. My Dad decided on a zig zag motif to hang some pictures one time. For some reason it really made me wonder if I had OCD. To make matters worse everybody who saw it praised my dad to the heavens.

So I bought curtains for my living room and the rod was to big to fit in the holes and then I discovered the curtains had a smaller and a larger hole for different sized rods I just had to flip my curtains upside down and it was the bigger hole on the bottom I had no idea they made curtains like that.

I learned the hard way that if you offset them you don't have to worry about things being straight. It kept me from knocking my fist thru said walls!!! Lol! 😉

use thumb tacks to hang pics first then replace thumb tacks for nails using the holes. Much easier

we are in the middle of our bathroom reno and seeing you guys knock out your basement keeps me going. I had curtain doors on my closet growing up. it was great bc my mom is a light sleeper so anytime I had to open the closet in the morning before school, I wouldn’t wake her up with sliding door noises

The basement looks great the only thing I personally would have done is to take the feet off the glass cabinet so you can see the whole if the television screen from the lower angle of the couch especially with the sound bar being there. Either that or raise the television, but removing the feet may be easier. I'm glad you've finally finished it though. Also with the boys curtain in their closet if you sew up half an inch at the bottom to make a sem and put some light weights in that sem it will hang a lot better and not drag on the floor as much. It does look good regardless though. Please don't think I'm having a go as it's just some suggestions and something I would personally do

I hung a similar curtain situation to divide the dining area from the living room. It's nice when we have company since they sleep in the living room.

I love the rehabbed lower level -- def worth the work! You did good on the Disney pics/frames!! I wouldn't recommend continuing them on the other wall though. Maybe a couple large colorful artwork/posters side by side instead on that wall, as the Disney pics are relatively small compared to the wall size. The visual impact that comes from having the five in a row will be lost if you continue it on the next wall, IMO.

Nice job! Suggestion: Add a dimmer switch to the lighting for tv time ambiance. And on the second wall, I'd find one large Disney framed photo to break up the pattern you created with the other nice pictures.

Love the curtains on the closet. But I think they need to be shortened. The bottoms are going to keep catching on the carpet and, if I know boys, they won't straighten them after each use. They need to hang free so they self-straighten. Overall, this basement makeover is an amazing transformation. Great job.
