I love how educational this video is. I'm definitely giving you guys a call soon. Mike, dont stop posting videos! I've been searching for information about leaks at the cove joint for almost a year and I called a franchise company but I wasnt sold on their solution. My scumbag builder put hydraulic cement at the cove joint to band aid it and get by the 1 year warranty. This video is the best explanation and makes the most sense on how to stop water. I didnt even know about the slab under the wall. I'm so glad I ran into this video!
Mike is a good guy, honest, not bs artist like other companies, he did my basement 2 yrs ago, NO WATER. His team works diligently and Hard. I recommended him to two friends, no water in their basements. Salute my friend Russell Family
@@GMGBlackWhiteMUNGEY Daniel O'Connor from Hydroarmor. He's a beast but you'll get the same system we do. He's the only reputable guy I know down there.
We have a local waterproofing company that is popular and they use that plastic tray garbage on the footing and I just shake my head at how much work they get. When the time comes for my basement to be done, my first question to any contractor is if he puts his system on the footing. If the answer is yes, it's have a nice day. There's the door
Your right. I have always done my own work at house. What your doing is the best way. So glad you mentioned that sales pitch bullshit. Don't like any of that garbage they sell. I believe your right about they find a way to put it in the easy way, less cost and labor for them. Screw the customer. That's their goal. Good job
I got a quote to do this for $150 Canadian a foot. I have extieror tile already. it gets overwhelmed and the floor still has a lot of water under it. I may try and do it myself one if these days. I just added another sump pit on the other side of the basement and that already has has a huge difference.. great video as always
Could you tell me about the vapor barrier you installed on the wall? I have high humidity in my basement even after a basement waterproofing installed. Does that vapor barrier on concrete walls help?
Hey brother love your videos and thank you for the information, as I’ve learned some invaluable lessons from your stuff! 2 questions - 1) what are your thoughts on HDPE pipe vs corrugated pipe? 2) what dehumidifier do you recommend? It’s about a 900 sq.ft. Basement area and about a 500sq.ft crawl space area. Thanks again for your advice!
Hi, nice info. Im doing this in my basement diy. Just a few questions. Im assuming to use 4" corrugated pipe? Do you use a fabric to wrap pipe? Do you cut cut a straight line with a demo saw and jackhammer in between? How wide should channel be from wall?
Premier did my basement about a year and a half ago not one drop of water I got the santa fe dehumidifier it gave me a lot more square footage best company around if you need a system done call premier waterproofing don't waste your time with anyone else.
I work in construction and totally agreed with you! It is very educational VDO and my eyes are wide opened now. I thought it was a new system for foundation drainage and I was stupid for going with them. I will cancel my contract with the so called franchise company right away!
You saved me about $16,000. I was literally five minutes away from calling up one of those 'box franchises' and signing on the dotted line then I did a last minute youtube search to see alternatives. They almost had me on the hook but my intuition told me that their system didn't make sense so I went searching and watched all your videos. What factors influence choosing the High Octane pipe over a standard ADS corrugated perforated pipe? You don't mention it in your videos but do you pitch the pipe down toward the sump basin?
Fantastic job well done this is how to properly install a waterproof system NOT that stupid water guard shit that goes on you’re footing great video my friend are you located in Buffalo ny by any chance
Hi Mike, Awesome explanation! I have some questions on the wall liner. Is it dimpled? Is the liner sealed with caulk at the top and how far apart should the fasteners be placed? Thank you!
Thank you Carmen. Yes we seal the top with polyurethane and fasten every couple feet. The polyurethane is pretty strong so no need to go crazy with fasteners.
Had one of those box systems installed over a decade ago and it worked fairly well for a few years but started leaking again eventually. Do you guys do any work in southern Maine im pretty much on the border of NH and only an hour away from Boston. Ill pay you guys extra lol
yes and for that rinky dink setting they charge alot more than what this would cost. at least that was what i qouted for the rinky dink it way more than this way I am in agreement that box drain look cheap did not make sense to me . plus like you said they said the mud zone , I would rather go where the water is and not let the water come up to that box setting. Am I making sense here
There is no "mud zone." That's a sales pitch. The pipe will be surrounded with stone. When there's no footing they put their drain in the "mud zone." All those drains are trash!
Where are you located? I've been waterproofing for 17years. I've never seen a slap tie in to the side of the footer. All basements here have 4 inches of stone and then the 4 inches of concrete on top of that and I some situations the slab would be pulled on top of the footer .
Mike you definitely know your shit, man! What’s a reasonable ballpark cost for a setup like this installed along one 45 foot wall of a basement? Do you do work as far as the Fall River, Mass area?
Quick question. When installing the pipe by the footer do you need a pitch to it that way it flows to the sump pit? I’ve seen videos saying yes and no. Just trying to DIY and do it the right way.
Try and get a little pitch. Water moves down hill so very little required. Just a hair will do. That way you don't have water in your pipe to introduce humidity in the air.
Hey Mike! Hope you're doing well. What kind of drain do you use? I was thinking about using 4 inch Charlotte PVC pipe with half in perforation holes. Would you recommend anything else? Thanks again for your help.
@@premierbasementwaterproofi9106 thanks mike, is it possible to run my discharge line next to my perforated pipe underneath? The problem I’ve noticed is that there are sewage and water line on the wall blocking my discharge line from running that span.
@@premierbasementwaterproofi9106 hey mike, installing my sump pump and noticed my footing is getting washed a little bit. Is there anything I can do to support this little area
Pitching any pipe is elementary. This pipe takes much more water than a typical solid ADS. Only time we use solid is for high iron content. Otherwise, this pipe is much better. It's just 4x the price. Well worth it!
