Two part video of "Simon," a Basenji who speaks through various noises to let me know he wants a potty break. This video shows how Simon alerts me of his need for a bathroom break. This video was uploaded from an Android phone.
ohh you should really have him restrained! it's dangerous to have him jumping all over the car like that. such a cutie though! i really want a basenji, they have such personality!
My Basenji Mix is the same way in the car. Wants to go with...can't sit still. He is bigger, mixed with Lab, so, he stays in the back. But, no matter how cold out, when you slow down or come to a stop, he his not happy until you open the window so he can put his head out the window.
Our Besenji loved car trips. He either slept or more likely had his noise popped out of an open window. He was fairly stationary the whole ride. Wonder why yours is so anxious, since he is the same breed. Is he calm at other times in the car?
@Illreptilekeeper57 Cont... So, it's good for them to have a companion. When they 'howl' it's incredibly loud, as is their 'yodel'. I find my Basenji very easy to train, as he loves to please. I use treats when I start teaching a new 'trick', but subsequently he's motivated and satisfied with just pleasing me. So, good luck with your own, you'll be delighted
My Basenji Knocks the gearshift when I let her run like that. She has also yanked my arm when it was on the steering wheel and yanked the steering wheel with her leg. Now I tie her leash to the passenger side headrest so she can't run all over and cause an accident.
Ah, cute! aww. Thanks for uploading. I did a lot of research on this breed. Am seriously considering getting one, hopefully I can find one at a shelter. I'd rather get a rescue. I have a pug/beagle mix atm and we love to go hiking. I think a basenji will be a perfect match for us. ^.^
@Illreptilefreak57 Cont... My basenji is utterly devoted to me, and fiercely loyal. They don't have any 'personal space' issues, so they will always attempt to sit on you!... When they sleep, they pile on top of each other, which is a common trait, as they do that for warmth in the wild. So, if you have another dog, he will be sat on, quite literally lol. As Basenjis are so devoted and loyal, they do suffer often from 'separation anxiety'. So, it's good for them to have a companion. When they
I have made the mistake of letting my basenji sit on my lap in many occasions and he is very loyal and devoted to me as well. I have had a problem with him barking constantly at other people. I think this might be part of the problem with letting him sit on my lap. Now I know to correct this maybe his behavior will get better.
I love these dogs my husband had when we got married last year his name was pooch he was such a special dog we found out he had a brain tumor and we had to put him to sleep he is missed somuch but when we ever get enough money we are going to get another on
