I really can't believe adults are commenting on her weight like high school mean girls!! SERIOUSLY???? She's STILL an incredible singer who brings happiness to thousands of fans. What does her weight have to do with anything??? GROW UP!!! Life happens and we don't know what has happened in her life. She still can sing and compose and THAT is what matters. I'm really shocked here....
Basia stopped performing in the late 90's when her mother passed away and it was several years before she returned. Lucky for us! Yes, she doesn't quite have the same power at the top of her voice as before, but the music she wrote and sings is incredibly rangy and demands the ability of a virtuoso. Anyone who has sung for any length of time understands that as we get older, we lose some of that. And we tend to put on weight. It's the natural course of things. She remains a classy artist and a charismatic, touching performer. One of my favorite all time singers.
As a 67 year old..we all have body changes...she is beautiful and you should be very greatfull that she is still is performing. Basia ...you and your musicians....are just extraordinarily wonderful...signed...a past performer.
OMG I love Basia, Been a fan for a long long time, 29 years ago while in Basic Training for the Army I wrote a fan letter, I still have the Picture she immediately sent back signed "To Jason, With Love, Basia, Basia introduced me to Jazz at 16 when Time and Tide came out in 87, I delved into Matt Bianco and others because of her, as to the negative commenters, they are just trolls in the basement of no significance
Extraordinary singer! She's the only Polish singer who made it big internationally, she topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, including the US and the UK. That's saying something!
The weight issue is a joke. I got news for the haters she is polish like myself. We traditionally put weight on. Nearing 70 I’m sure she really cares what people say because she is doing what she loves and we love our pigs in the blanket and pirogis. ❤️

I am Polish too and follow her carrier since she left Matt Bianco and I have to say I am her fan for forever. I poses all I believe albums she has relesead during her carrier.....
Niestety nie widzialem jej na koncercie, ale bylem na Marcin Wasilewski Trio, inny jazz bardziej powazny. Ich album Spark of Life z Joakimem Milder jest super.
I'm only glad that Basia is not reading all these harsh comments. She doesn't like social media e she also never reads about what people write about her. She is a truly genuine, warm and lovely woman and also a genuine, warm and lovely singer. I wish all the haters to meet her in person one day and you will all change opinion immediately. Besides, she doesn't need the super high notes or the super hits now. At 59, she's achieved a fantastic international career, now she enjoys life and does what she like the most.
She tours because she loves to sing. And so many people love to hear her sing, like me. She has loved singing since she was a little girl. That's why she's so good at it.
Basia has the most incredible perfect pitch. She's a musical genius. She writes and sings all her own harmonies on her recordings. I'm so happy to see that she is still performing and still sounds just as breathtaking as she did when she released her first album.
Have loved Basia for many years. I played Basia so much dancing around my house, that I caught my son (who's 25) singing Promises (word for word) with me. It was beautiful! Can't wait for you to come to San Diego again. Peace and Blessings
I'm really starstruck!!! Basia was a big idol for me in the early ninties, with her album "London Warsaw New York." Her voice and her presence are timeless. I really wish that I could go and see her in concert. What a treasure!
I just can't stop listening to this woman. The very first time I knew about Basia I was about 16, long time ago. Ever since then she's been present in my life. First time I saw her live was in San Diego in 2009, I was ticket number 2 sold in that concert at Humphrey's, a magical night, will always be in my heart. I see her performing and really get emotional. Will always love Basia music.
I've been a big Basia fan since the late 80s. Your music has touched and lifted me up over many years. You're a class act and great role model. What happens to vocal range and physical appearance over time be damned. You're still top shelf as far as I'm concerned! Amen!
She was/is one of my favorite artists with whom I’ve had the pleasure to work. She is an AMAZING person. Not just as a performer. She is someone I could live with, and that’s a rare compliment.
Why are all these negative comments about a beautiful lady with a voice that has entertained many people around the Globe since the 80s. Stop all this hate people, more positiveity will perhaps change your lifes for the better. If you think that you have the ultimate right to be the critical over everyong and anyone, it may be an idea for you to start at the person stairing at you in the mirror. When you have fixed that person and you are perfect in every way shape and form, move on to the next but not before. Try giving out more love and a little less negativity and your life and world may seem a little brighter. Good luck, I hope you succeed.
So impressed to see and hear Basia still going strong after her late 80's heyday! It is extraordinary how her music has stood well to the test of time. Great songwriting exquisite harmonies she must be a Polish national treasure, who once held the world of fickle pop music in her spotlight for that incredible 15 seconds but never let it define her joie d'vivre for her artistry. Sing out Swing out Sister!
She still makes it look easy and we know it's not easy with her vocal range. She doesn't use Autotune, wasn't her style. I would definitely go see her. Strong vocals, tight band... quality stuff!
you guys can simply not imagine what a delight is being able to see this video, for people like us in Chile (look us in the map) because we will probably never have the chance to see BASIA live...and some of us have been always login to it. Thanks endlessly to the uploader. Best wishes.. best music!
+Andrea Toro Muy cierto, Andrea.
you are so lucky and sweet to have Basia there....man...some people are losers to call her look now, she has a gift..a gift to sing beautifully...and that's from above!!!!
Hey Andrea, so nice to know some people in the world love this music. Really - great woman, great voice, anyone heard of her affairs? no one? yes! she is a real star - known for what she does and she can. I am Polish, but never seen Basia live neither - so don't complain your geography ;) Lots of love. J.
Va sin acentos - yo si se donde queda Chile y pronto estare de visita por primera vez visitando Torres del Paine. Saludos desde Australia.. Basia for ever!!
Basia is amazing!!! I met her once and she is so sweet and kind to all of her fans...She has had a couple of injuries over the past year or so. She is only human, she is still amazing no matter what. Trust me I am sure most of the haters here are not cute as Basia is!!!
She was the sweetest performer I'd ever heard in Miami during Matt Bianco's Matt's Mood Tour and the concert was fantastic. Isn't it funny how the haters haven't done anything substantial with their lives and lovely Basia was again working her magic onstage in Jarkarta?
Absolutely agreed they endured before those talent shows emerged like mushrooms from around the world Basia & Danny & thier group still rockin the world since 80's ,90's still shines nowadays ageless pure class
I like "Half A Minute", "Olive Tree", "Promises"...oh, hell. I like them all. Even the ones she didn't sing. Like the songs off her "Beautiful Mess" CD.
That's the fastest 1:15:01 that I've ever watched! I love her concerts because every one of her songs is great! She just seems to like singing all my favorite songs.
She is still a beautiful SINGER, not a beauty pageant contestant. If we count the years, we love her since 30 years ago, and she have the same beautiful voice and marvelous eyes. Cheers from Bogotá.
Life happened to her. The same with a lot of stars and recording artists who have been out of the spotlight for eons. She still SOUNDS the same: Awesome!
Yes I agree, and to people in general. Im not going to kill myself trying to please those who arent able to live without constantly trying to be a follower & clone of others..
Alexa -- so right (and you would know!). I dug so much of her Sweetest Illusion album waaaay back, but had never seen her live. Just came across this gem of an upload...nice to see she's back at it and clearly lost none of her spectacular ability. Hope you're well!
That creamy voice of hers is something I'll keep coming back listening to. Been doing so since I was a kid, and now I'm in my mid-thirties. Basia and Corinne Drewery (of Swing Out Sister) are two of my favorite female singers - I discovered them both as opposing sides of a cassette tape. Thank you for sharing!
Corrine Drewery is comparable to Basia. Simply based on production and volume of music. Neither one of those wonderful ladies ever made a bad recording. Or gave a bad performance. Everything that they've done has been great.
@@martyemmons8692 Indeed, these vocalists have a similar style. It's nice that you mentioned Corrine Drewery, because I didn't know her, and now I can listen to something cool.
What an accomplished singer, her voice still amazing as when she stormed the world with Promises, I'm so excited she's back to entertain all of us who appreciate the power of great music!!
People. she is so gorgeous, inside out ! Listen, listen and keep listening to her perfect singing. She can pull out studio-quality from singing on stage. Not many artists can do it, at the level that Basia has done.
Or even have the longevity. She's been making music for nearly 40 years. And good music to! I paid my hard earned money to buy her CDs and go to her concerts whenever she came to town.
Still such TIGHT harmonies. Sooooooooooo underrated. I played keyboards and organ in high school when London/Warsaw/Paris came out and it influenced my music as kid playing gospel in a black church. Music is truly universal. And Copernicus is one of the hardest songs to perform by any musician or vocalist.
I had the opportunity to see Basia Live on Broadway for the taping of the CD...she was great then, and she's still great! I'm so sad for the people who have to be so mean and critical. Thank you, Basia for the joy you've brought us through the years. I've loved you since the Matt Bianco days in the early 80s!
That Live On Broadway CD is one of my favorites. I got to see her three times in 2011. A very blessed year. I bought Matt Bianco CDs that she was on, just because...
Has always had the most incredible gift. I am so glad to see her singing, again. She is so dynamic and that feel-good sound is what music always needs. Tight band! Fantastic! Her eyes are jewels! Welcome back, Basia!
Basia and Danny what a duo! I love Basia still listen to each album I think she's terrific here and always. Saw her live in Dallas in 2010 it was very memorable... also once in 2004 in the Bay Area, and even in 1990, Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles with two drummers! Amazing career and I hope for much more.
Bottom line, Basia is a world class music performer. She influenced my musical taste the moment I heard her the first time. If you know her body of work, any lude comments posted here mean nothing.
I could not agree with you more. I saw her recently in my town and she was so gracious. I held her hand for a moment. She greeted me and my friends when she entered the theatre. She is beautiful and talented and will be forever. Thank you Cu Dennis. :)
I have loved her both Polish and English songs for most of my life, round 35 years or so, her voice, rhythms and kind nature bring back lovely moments and make me feel really joyful. Thank you Basia!
I think BASIA still has it!!!!! I loved her music from the 80's, I burnt out my "London, Warsaw, New York", cassette of hers, and she is a great talent, didn't know she was still touring.....why do people always criticize? She may be a little heavier, but who cares? It's all about the music for me anyway, and I have no qualms speaking my mind....anyway greetings from San Diego, CA!!! Take care people & have cool jazz dreams!
Yes my dear Basia looks different, but she still sounds great! We all have different seasons in our lives, sometimes they change us in more ways than one. Her appearance is shockingly different, but she is just as lovely as ever. Still has that special sparkle in her eye, but many wont see that because they are hung up on her weight. Everyone changes as the years pass; get over it and enjoy her music!
Well to be honest.. I would definetly hit her. Just imagine that voice having an orgasm in your ear... Uhm??? too much?? ok .. I'm just sharing my opinion.
That is very well said! She also has very good back-up signer and players!!! Very beautiful woman... from Poland, where my family is from, so I'm especially proud of this woman!! Much Love!! Love should be spread, NOT hate!!
First time I listened to her music I was 14 years or so... 30 years later and I still believing she has a beautiful voice and hearing many of these songa again brought me back nice memories of those days.
her talent has not changed. Yes when you get older you pack on the weight, depending on how hard your life is. She had to go through some hard times after her mother died but she never lost her voice
Again, people use the excuse of age for the weight gain. It has nothing to do with it. Reduce your portions, watch the fat, carb and sugar intake, and get on a treadmill for 30 minutes a day 3 times a week. It's not that hard. She's not stuck in an office 5 days a week. She has plenty of downtime, I guarantee it.
She is beautiful I side and out...I disagree with you when you say when you get older you pack on weight, not true..its all about maintaining...and I've maintain..
@Basia Muchas gracias por su respuesta, las canciones que más me gustan son: New day for you y Cruising for bruising. Un placer saludarla desde la Ciudad de México. Un gran abrazo y un beso.
Basia still looks great and most definitely still and always be one of my favorite Singers that deserves more credit and recognition that she gets...i wish i could see her perform live...Thank You Basia for the great music over the years.
I noticed that also. As a matter fact, the whole band put on a great performance. The fastest 1:15:01 I've ever watched. I was sorry when it stopped. I wanted more.
