The first thing I noticed was that the wall behind the test bench was a little cleaner than usual. Anyway, always entertaining to watch; and I love the look of those lovely old grey and beige machines. I have a 7-64 hex-core computer in a beige tower (with a 120mm side fan!).

Max Power: he's the man whose name you'd love to touch, but you mustn't touch! His name sounds good in your ear, but when you say it, you mustn't fear, 'cause his name can be said by anyone. Glad you’ve settled into the new home at least enough to start posting new videos again. We’ve missed you.

I have the exact same lite on dvd burner that's on the first system. That thing is bulletproof. It belonged to my stepdad who bought it for his rig in 05 ane used it for almost 10 years. I've been using it to burn audio CDs almost daily for 3 years now, et even has a direct drive tray, and a red LED for when it's burning data. Besides the rubber on the platter clamp wearing off from so much use, i never had any issue with that drive.

Yes, these Toshiba drives sound strange. But I already know the noise from before. I have to admit that I no longer like removing the coolers from sockets 7 and 370 because the plastic on the retaining lugs always tends to crumble. And I'm a bit afraid that it will break at some point. The whole thing wasn't built to last that long.

That Toshiba CD-ROM drive has more plastic than my Cyberdrive of roughly the same vintage (and that's something, since the Toshiba must have been much more expensive). Btw, I moved in the summer of 2022 and in April of this year. Still don't know where some of my things went, including a Yamaha SCSI CD-RW drive, which I'd really like to use for my dual slot 1 workstation build.

I have that exact same motherboard and CPU, makes for a great overpowered Windows 98 rig with 1 gigabyte of DDR 266, a fast spinny 80GB HDD, and yes Windows 98 will work with 80GB HDD's but it's pushing the limits of what it likes, and you have to format it elsewhere. I can't remember the GPU in it, I think it's a 64MB GeForce MX440 AGP 4x, which is fitting 'cause I think this board only has AGP 4x, but I can't remember for sure. Topping it off is a SoundBlaster Live Value (Not the crappy dell one) with OPL3. Sure it's kind of cheating and some would say pointless because I could just run an emulator, but I want a fast Windows 98 PC, not an impossibly fast one. Glad to see you're back man, we've all missed the weekly / biweekly videos.

Welcome back, hope the move went well. This video was a nostalgic look back for me, remember having to diagnose causes of computer software problems on machines similar to these for my parents back in the 00s. I have to admit I'm glad things like smartphones and tablets got rid of machines like these, they weren't the best function wise, many of them "Packard Bell tier specials" I feel. People would just buy the worst computing junk back then I feel.
