I have watched many videos over several years for bags. So many have to have a crap ton of gadgets. Your videos are basics. You cover all the basics needed. Without all the gadgets that you won't use and add unnecessary weight. Love the videos. Always come back to get grounded in basics.

Outstanding Dave I saw the first one and you could tell there was a lot of emotion in it. You are a far better man and instructor than the ones that are taking cheap shots at you.

Good on you. You can recognize your mis-steps and fix them. Also thanks for being the bigger person. We see it. You are the modern day Bushcraft guru

I thought that the previous video was just fine, direct and to the point. Bluntly honest and only slightly sugar coated. Was someone offended? Really? If so, I doubt that they would have emotionally survived an old school up bringing. Just My Honest Opinion! However, I do like the additional gear added to the updated list. Haversack and poncho...very cool, great choices. You're a great teacher Dave and very knowledgeable. The survival, bushcraft, self-reliance community is fortunate to have your dedication. Many thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and experience with us.

Dave. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put in to teaching us these skills. I’m sure that there has been someone that your information saved their life. I cannot think of anyone that I have ever met that is so dedicated to helping others. You deserve all of the accolades that you get! I went to your basics class several years ago and it was a highlight of my year. I hope that you always remember that at the core of any of the negative comments is what I call The “J” factor. (jealousy) God bless you, your family, and your business. John.

Man, would love to take one(or several) of your classes. Shame Ohio is a long way from Norway. Would also love to see an Amazon shopping list with items you recommend students bring.

Hey, Dave! The 5 / 10 Cs and your gear lists have been the foundation of my kits every time I've taken a step on a trail ever since I first heard about them. I might tweak things based on the situation and as my budget allows me to upgrade, but the foundation is rock solid. With each outing, I understand and appreciate your experience & teaching a bit more. Thank you for blazing a trail for the rest of us to follow. Great video.

Wifey and I are setting up a Radio Station for Winter Field day on emergency power at a National Forest. We've been gathering gear ect. I purchased a book called Bush Craft 101. It reads so easily! I'm enjoying it! This course looks like something my wife and I would be very interested in. Thanks, and great vid!

This was fantastic Dave! I am coming out for the basic class in 2024 for sure. I didnt notice a tarp in the video. Is that not on the list? I thought for sure we would deploy a ridgeline and tarp.

Something I’ve often thought about, and don’t recall ever hearing until now was the bit about initially getting firewood from further away from your camp.

Question about meds: what about OTC that your doctor recommends such as vitamin D and antacids? Many times insurance companies deny a prescription if you can get it OTC in lower doses. For example, I have to take vitamin D every day to keep my levels up to the minimum. Dr only prescribes a high dose if those levels are severely low.

T-rex 🦖 duct tape is actually the best based on my tests which i used a lifting weight to test which it held but but besides repairs and such I'll warn you that stuff is tuff and very sticky i fell on my butt trying to tug it off my wall 😂 but gorilla is also a great brand and the step down from T-Rex with duck following behind

I wouldn’t go anywhere without a sure way to make fire and at least protection from the Elements but at a Basic level you need more as you become more adapt you need less thanks for giving us an expert opinion do you have videos showing staying 2-3 days in one location with these three items I would enjoy watching them for sure?
