It's remarkable, I've seen quite some tutorials and color guides, none of them explaining exactly how they work in practice! And here you are, making sense of it in 10 minutes. That's just marvelous. Thanks!
@@Linescapes Hi I make furniture-it is a part time business, and I design my own stuff. I use Inventor for 3D, but I always start with sketches. I keep loads of sketch books and jot down my ideas. Ideas are not the problem, but the execution is not great. Your tips have really helped-even the very first one on controlling a pencil and simple perspective. I always like to improve and learn! Thank you
Great video guys on color science and use in graphics. I've found that even when portraying design elements on a plan or section drawing it is possible to identify the material being used by its color but using some of the combinations you suggested in number 5 helps bring the entire plan together. Sometimes the graphics sell as much as the quality of the design itself. BYW, Sonia, I had a sweater just like that one you're wearing back in the 80's, was my favorite. Thanks.
Hey Richard! Thanks for your feedback, we always appreciate it! Researching for this video also thought us a lot about color. It's completely true - we found that even when using a "naturalistic" color scheme to represent designs, it pays off to use color harmonies to make it look visually coherent. And I love the pullover too! Berlin is full of places where you can get second-hand vintage clothes and I'm really enjoying them :)
I am so glad I found your channel! I tried to find a simple explanation of this (and many other things i need to improve my work) with no luck at all! Looking forward to exploring more of your videos, I am sure I will learn many things from you. Thank you!
Stubbled upon this channel recently, and it's really helpful. I hadn't found any channel which explains the basics, that too soo well !! Really helpful 😁
I love colors but am very bad at it's execution. 😢 In fact, I'm scared to use colors thinking I'll just ruin my drawing. The weight of color topic was very helpful and important. Wish I knew before. Surely, going to try it. ❤❤
My personal favorite scheme is the split as well! I also learned some new stuff from this video. Naturally I tried to balance the split scheme with a lot of the cooler hues and a bit of the warmer hues, but I never considered color weight (or placement per se) much in my sketch. Definitely going to try this on my next sketch, great video! You've also given me reason to reconsider monochromatic which i originally considered boring :p!
Glad the video brought new insights for you, Gabriel! :) Yeah, the monochromatic can really be interesting. Especially since you have to decide on a single color and this decision alone is very important.
Just watched some of your vids - thx for sharing these with us! May I suggest to add the info how long it took you to draw a picture in real time in your drawing vids, please? And you might conside ti show a (small) version of the original view of the motive in the corner of the video frame while drawing, would make it more interesting for the viewer. As it might take too much time for you, I understand you rarely give comments of what you leave out or why you emphasize what in your timelape drawing scenes - but it would really enrich the information and learning curve for us viewers. I like your natural and friendly style a lot, please continue making and sharing videos!
Thank you so much for this in-depth feedback! Yeah, we get asked a lot about the original view and started to show it in our newer travel videos. Regarding the abstraction and leaving out of elements: it's complex but very important. We'll definitely try to explain it in the future. Maybe even in an extra video.
Wow I love you guy. I like how you kept the lesson going with your jokes. Some where funny cause they where not funny 🤣. Can't wait for your next video
@@Linescapes I have just finished the first year of the two-year Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) at Greenwich University in London www.gre.ac.uk/postgraduate-courses/ach/lan-arc-mla
Thanks, Tomek! You’re right, the frequencies are flipped! 😅 Ok, for anyone else reading or wondering: Blue light gas shorter wavelengths, red light has longer wavelengths.
Just for your information, from one who have studied physics: red light have a longer wavelength then blue light, and your film shows the opposite in the beginning. Not a big error, and maybe I'm nitpicking, but I feel that the information ought to be right....
@@Linescapes You are wellcome! By the way, I found a link to a great picture explaining the electromagnetic spectrum here: www.autodesk.com/products/eagle/blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/electromagneticspectrum.jpg It explains the hole electromagnetic spectrum, from radio waves to X-rays, and of cause where the visible light fits into the picture. I might explain some notification as well, nm is a short form for a nanometer (1/1 000 000 000 of a meter). Hz is the short form for Herz, a measurement of frequency. 1 Hz is 1 oscillation per second, and radio waves are in the neighborhood of 100 000 000 Hz. I hope that you enjoy thease facts, and have a good day.. Best regards,
