Basic Deco Mesh Wreath

Here's a simple "how to" for making a deco mesh wreath. The video quality isn't stellar- the camera I used picked up lots of erroneous sounds.... like the zoom in/zoom out sounds of the camera itself. Still the info is clear and I think you'll find it useful.

Alfreda- That is so nice of your to say- especially in light of the quality of this video!! It was our first and I get so much criticism usually from people who watch it. I'm so happy you were able to take the good information from it even though it was delivered in a less than stellar way. You blessed me today. -Kelly

+Sandy Boyd Thank you for watching and the compliment. I know that video is terrible quality. It was one of our first tries. My husband kindly volunteers to run the camera for me (which this was a terrible camera to use, as I explained in the comments). Instead of taking down the video because of the zooming and noise- I thought the information was really good in spite of this. I hope you fought through the bad quality and got some useful information. :) Blessings to you! -Kelly

Kelly you out did yourself. I really like it. It was very informative and a little comical. I gather your camera man was learning on a new camera and I actually had a howl watching. It makes you human and down to earth ,I like that! Have a blessed night. I will stay tuned for your next video! I enjoy

+Jonie Isenberg Jonie- I'm hopeful you did get some useful information in spite of the difficulty with th camera movement. My husband - who is a sales executive, graciously films for me and tries to be sure he's getting the shots that are the most helpful, with the most detail. The fact that we are just working from our house with at home equipment sometimes is very noticeable, sadly. We try to do better with each video. Thank you so much for watching. Blessings, Kelly

I just saw this and thank you for it. I love your videos because you are so meticulous and I love that. I'm very picky and strive for perfection. I buy from Craft outlet but I never consider the premium or deluxe. The mesh I got was like sandpaper and very hard to manipulate. I think I'm going to have to sell them on Craiglist and start fresh. I know you sell your wreaths, but please don't stop doing tutorials. Especially for non-creative people like myself :)
@UnderATexasSky
@UnderATexasSky 8 лет назад
January- I always love to hear from you! And yes, there is such variation on the types of mesh. The premium and deluxe seem to be easier to manipulate and also seem to ravel less. I rarely use any other type of mesh because of this. I just always want to try to have such good coverage that you cannot see the wreath form through the mesh. Of course you can help keep this from happening by using lots of ribbon. And no worries, I'm going to continue to share tips and techniques on my channel! I love sharing and I always love hearing that people are learning new things from me. Blessings to you!! Kelly

Great Job, Love it! Only problem is the camera person. You can hear the camera zooming in and out and the focusing was off sometimes. This was disruptive, but I wanted to see the end result. So watching this video was a little bit stressful. I just love the wreath and thanks for sharing, because you are very informative.

Also, where do you get the wreaths with the wires already attached?
@UnderATexasSky
@UnderATexasSky 8 лет назад
+Morgan Helterbridle (Stamper) Morgan- Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words. I usually purchase my wreath forms from craft outlet.com. The forms come in a huge variety of colored twists that are fairly easy to work into the design but if they look awkward you can try to twist them out of the way. I've also just covered them with embellishments but I think you could use a strong pair of wire cutters to trim them as well. I prefer the fluffier twists as opposed to the pencil type- they just seem prettier to me. Thanks again for watching- I hope y'all have a blessed holiday season. Blessings to you- Kelly

@UnderATexasSky 9 лет назад
+skrobnsn Thank you so much for watching and the nice compliment! I do let the green twists show- they look like evergreen and so work perfectly with a Christmas themed wreath. I try to keep lots of colors of wreath bases on hand so I can incorporate the twists into the wreath instead of having to camouflage the them. I usually have each twist pretty full of ribbon and such... I think trimming them might be problematic. I hope your wreath turns out beautifully! Blessings- Kelly

Terri- I order the majority of my supplies from craftoutlet.com. They have everything from basic to premium mesh at good prices. I also purchase my wreath forms from them. How much would you charge for a wreath like this? I am going to make some and sell them!!! Thank You!!
@UnderATexasSky
@UnderATexasSky 9 лет назад
+Marilyn Webb Reed Marilyn- I always try to make my wreaths affordable (mostly because this isn't my principle business). I generally sell mine from $60-$75 depending on how much I spent for materials plus how long it took to complete it. I do have a business so I have to charge tax and then if I'm shipping the wreath, I also charge the shipping (which can vary wildly depending on the shipping zone). But my base price is generally the price point I mentioned. Good luck and thanks so much for watching! Blessings to you! -Kelly

I charge 40 to 45 depending on the size!! I am getting ready to make a large one and it will be around 60 .. where do you get you mesh rolls ... I can't seem to find any around here?
@UnderATexasSky
@UnderATexasSky 9 лет назад
Marilyn- I generally order my mesh from craftoutlet.com. I try to stay with the deluxe or premium mesh for a fuller coverage. If I go with a lower weave, I add lots of ruffles and ribbons for coverage. Craftoutlet.com usually gets orders to me in 2 -3 days and it's free shipping for orders over $69. I'm not affiliated with them in any way- I just find they have good quality supplies! :) (I don't love their wreath forms, however. I get mine from a wholesaler who only sells to businesses). My wreaths generally sell for $60-75- this is for 25" wreaths and bigger. I hope this helps! Blessings- Kelly

Bonessa Ivey If I were doing a Minnie Mouse wreath- I'd definitely go with red deco mesh with black and white polka dot ribbons. I might even just do two big ears with a big bow in between. I'm not 100% sure how to create the ears... but that could be cute- people should recognize it's representing Minnie. Anyway you go- I'd for sure go with the black ribbon with white polka dots and red mesh. Good luck! :)

@UnderATexasSky
@UnderATexasSky 8 лет назад
Carolee- Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words. I try to buy the "deluxe" and "premium" mesh. Now if I'm doing a pouf wreath and add ruffles, I might go with a lesser quality mesh since it's just kind of in the background. I've done that with the windowpane mesh. It's an open weave, but I also incorporate ruffles that are premium and it makes such a pretty wreath! I buy my mesh pretty much exclusively through craftoutlet.com and have been very happy with the quality. I also love the poly burlap they have. They also have amazing ribbon in nice long rolls. (I'm not affiliated with them in any way, btw) I just have been really satisfied with their product. I hope you have the same experience. Blessings to you! -Kelly

+rugbymoms Ruby- Thank you so much for watching. I realize the quality of this video is very lacking... we tried out a new camera (which was a disaster) and as for my helper- it's my husband who is an account executive by trade... this is one of the first videos we did, and he thought it would be helpful if he zoomed in on certain things. I just felt like the information in the video was really good, even if the video itself, wasn't. We're hopefully getting better with each new video we produce. Thanks for hanging in there! Blessings- Kelly

I don't know what has changed. I love watching you, but that zoom noise is very distracting. It hasn't been in any of the other videos I've watched.

Doe- You've made it back to the very first wreath video we ever made and it's TERRIBLE! I mean, I think the information is very helpful, but the quality is embarrassing. I tried to apologize before and during the video, I know it's so distracting, but I just felt like the information was really good, so I've kept the video on my channel. Thanks for sticking with me! Blessings! Kelly

Why don't you just mesh your mesh on the mat. I place my work wreath on a line and then measure the measure the mesh out however long I want it.'

Nancy- Thank you for your feedback. This video is the first video I ever made. You'll notice in the description, I mention the problem with the camera and explain that I am aware the quality of filming is hard to watch. My sweet husband, who is an account executive by trade, kindly films for me. We've had a learning curve and have made many videos that are of a much better quality since that initial video. I hope you will watch some others and find them easier to view. Thanks again for watching.

Those do not look like pencil wreaths.

T- That’s because it’s a “work wreath.” I indicated that. I mentioned you could also use a pencil wreath.

Barbara- I explained as best as I could in the description of the video, that this is the FIRST video we ever made. All throughout the video, I make apologies for the distracting camera motion and sound. The camera helper is my husband, who is an account executive by trade, but he loves me enough to try to help me as much as he can, so firing him is not something I'd entertain. I have 15 other wreath making videos if you like a tutorial that's not so distracting.
