The absolute most detailed trainer since Cus D’amato and Freddie Roach. You get my upmost respect. Learned a lot from you brother. Keep teaching the philosophy!
You are the man! It seems like you emphasize the hips a lot, Could you please do a video on drills or strength training to help increase hip drive/ strength??
This is genuinely the best explanation of any aspect of boxing I’ve ever seen. So clearly explained and clean in the movements it’s unreal. Maybe i’m overreacting bcs I’m pretty stoned but imma watch again in the morning and I bet it will still be as good.
Thanks sir... I'm a pure beginner in boxing... Only watches vedios of tournament... but not so confident to learn and to enter in the ring... But i saw your channel before a week... Honestly now I'm practicing the true boxing stance... And I'm gaining confidence... I wish, you make a complete boxing tutorial from the fundamental(stance, jab, cross, hook, combination....) series... By the way lots of love from India...you are famous here too😁😊😍
off topic but i was struggling to figure out of whom you remind me of. Idk if y'all watched The Walking Dead but Marvin looks a lot like Ezekiel. Same powerful but kind look on the face. A king in the game. Great Video! Footwork is crucial. And this is the best way to understand it.
This man really be fixing my boxing one step at a time. I've been trying to mate some boxing with my taekwondo stuff, and this has really been helping to fix my boxing fundamentals bit by bit. Thanks man, this stuff really helps me correct the stuff I didn't know I was doing wrong to begin with.
Tried the movements both the wrong way and the right way as I was watching this and the way you teach the proper way to move as a boxer actually feels more natural than you said it would, it was easier and I felt more freedom in my punches👍🏾👍🏾
Wow! Who knew? I just happened to make a friend at UFC n he showed me how to wrap my hands! I bought gloves n just started hitting the bag🤷🏾♀️Now been doing it for over a year! N a half daily 57 mins tabata boxing! Thanks for the tips!
So much value here! I pause and like before the video begins, Marvin man consider dropping a online course(s) to really monetize your knowledge! I'm already sold!
This was so helpful for me. I have been dragging that back foot. I practiced what you taught in this video and noticed major improvement in the power of my cross while moving during pad work. Thanks. I was able to pivot the foot and engaging hips with what I would call a stationary punch but when moving I could not get my hip power because I was dragging that back foot.
As someone who practiced Muay Thai, I'm going to incorporate this, because I always felt heavy whenever I would move and practicing this alongside the video already made a difference
Marvin your a legend man. You really helping me with all the minor imperfections I have in my stance like shoulder imbalances, hip placements and leg movements. for almost around 3 weeks now I've also been doing posture therapy so I'm really nice and light on my feet with my improved core muscles. Can't wait for the next vid.
Your channel is brand new to me but I may have watched all your videos in a matter of a week or so. Even all the 08’ clips. Top notch education Marvin. You’re even helping me spot errors when I watch my favorite pros on the big screen. Truly appreciate you & couldn’t be happier to see you return
Although some adjustments need to be made for it to apply to kickboxing in terms of stance I've found your lessons very helpful in terms of moving myself in a way that keeps me balanced and ready to kick after I punch.
Man I really appreciate your videos. I have a solid foundation from mma but your videos have really made me way more dynamic in my stand up striking. Truly a class act Sir. You have a gift for teaching and explaining. Peace brother
Thank you for this video. This is helpful for me to help Rock Steady boxers with their footing in class as they have Parkinsons. Excellent suggestions!
U got a new sub with me. Boxing has always been hard. I was a wrestler. So made it hard to make myself do the right foot work. I have power but no footwork. The way u explain this is amazing and really easy to digest. I want to see some drills and training. Thanks alot
I love these videos. This concept is interesting when applying it to somebody who DOES use their upper body to help cut angles, like Loma. Unless I don't understand how he whips himself around people, which I believe is by essentially leaning onto them so he can quickly pivot. We're probably better served by these fundamentals, of course.
Questions : How can I incorporate head movement into this? Head movement by its very nature moves the shoulders, so how would I go about avoiding hooks or an inside fighter? You have shown how the true boxer's stance works for the jab and cross, but can you demonstrate hooks, uppercut, and overhands? Lastly, how can I alter the true boxer's stance to better suit it for kickboxing? Being sideways exposes the front leg to a multitude of attacks. Thank you for all the great lessons!!
For head movement, stepping and bending mainly at the knees keeps me balanced. So slips are just stepping sideways and rolls are just squats. For kickboxing, I think you can open your stance to some degree, just enough to comfortably check kicks. As long as your jab or lead push kick is the first thing your opponent will have to go through, I think it’ll work. Alternatively, one of Marvin’s earlier videos said that you should use lateral movement to prevent your opponent from setting down their weight and kicking, so that if the kick does land, it has very little power behind it. Marvin’s earlier videos said his concepts were fundamentals that can be altered to fit better for you, not rules to follow, so it’s okay to break some of his rules if they don’t fit you. The only thing that 100% has to be followed (in my opinion) is staying balanced, everything else is good, but not absolutely essential.
The centre of the boxer is the core. I took some pilates classes when training to fight years ago, and strengthening my core dramatically increased my boxing balance and strength.
Do workout routine videos that target basic/advanced punching accuracy, stamina, and strength training. Love to see your routines and make challenges for us that will help is improve
I certainly appreciate the footwork drills. I've always wondered if Coach Cook would comment on my video if I posted a video of myself practicing what he teaches lol
This is great info since im a beginner what I wanna how many reps do you take just starting do I put into the number of reps or just go by mins at a time
