Thank you for watching! ありがとうございます😊 When we introduce ourselves, we tend to use ‘~kara kimashita’ because it can be used with name of city, state, country. In Japanese , the word ‘アメリカ(America)’ means the United States. It doesn’t include all the North, Central and South America. If you say ‘アメリカからきました。(I’m from America).’ It means you’re from the US🇺🇸

I am honestly addicted to your lessons as they are easy to understand and very informative. I am learning using my husbands old Nakama book 1 and I feel this helps me follow it better

先生 what is the difference between から and しよっし? Are both means from? ありがとうございます for the lesson ❤

Do you mean ‘しゅっしん’?? しゅっしん is a noun to describe person’s origin (city, country, school…) から is a particle which has more functions . From time, place. Also means ‘by through, after’ depending in the context. Hope it helps!

I have a question, when correcting a person (For example: いいえさとみさんはにほんじんです) can i use fhe termination "よ"? (Example: いいえさとみさんはにほんじんですよ)
@satous-nihongo-playground
@satous-nihongo-playground Год назад
Yes! You can say that too☺️ ‘よ’ emphasizes the sentence a little and it’s more like ‘I’m telling you that…’. Hope it helps!

ありがとうございます! ウクライナから来ました。 I have 1 question: how should I say the last sentence, If I want say, for example, "We came from Ukraine?" (Ask this, because I don’t see the pronounce in structure "Country から来ました。")
@satous-nihongo-playground
@satous-nihongo-playground Год назад
ウクライナから来ましたか? Did you come from Ukraine? (Are you from Ukraine?) The subject can be You, They or any other pronouns depending on the context😊

Love your videos, I am using your lessons alongside Duolingo to slowly learn JP. Question, what about "しゅっしん", isn't that "from" as well?
@satous-nihongo-playground
@satous-nihongo-playground Год назад
しゅっしん means person’s origin (e.g. city, county, school)😊 わたしは とうきょう しゅっしんです。 I have my origin in Tokyo = I’m from Tokyo

what exactly is jin though
@satous-nihongo-playground
@satous-nihongo-playground 2 года назад
Thank you for your comment😊 You can’t use ‘Jin’ by itself because it doesn’t mean anything by itself. When it’s combined with name of the country, it describes ’person from that country (nationality). However, after you learn about kanji (Chinese characters), things get different. Amerika-jin’ is written like this. ‘アメリカ人’. [Katakana アメリカ+kanji 人] The kanji ‘人’ describes ’person’. Each kanji has more than two readings ‘kun-reading (kunyomi : native Japanese reading) and ‘on-reading (onyomi : Chinese reading). When Japanese people started using kanji, they borrowed Chinese reading as well, so most of kanji have more than two readings. ‘Jin’ is a Chinese reading of the kanji ‘人’. Japanese reading of it, is ‘hito’. ‘Hito’ can be used as ‘person’ by itself but ‘jin’ cannot be used by itself. I know it sounds complicated. Same kanji ‘人’ but have two readings and depending on the readings, its usage is different. I didn’t mention this in this video because we haven’t learned kanji in this basic Japanese lessons yet and I didn’t want everyone confused😂 If you already know about kanji, My answer for your question would be… ‘人 (jin)’ describes ‘person’ but please use kunyomi (Japanese reading) when you want to use it by itself, which is ‘hito’. If you don’t know kanji and only know the sound ‘jin’, I can’t say that it means ‘person’ because it doesn’t make any sense if it’s used by itself. It has a limited usage. I hope this makes sense😰 Even if it sounds too confusing and complicated now, you’ll understand how these work once you get used to using kanji!! As for now, please remember that ‘jin’ is combined with country names and describes ‘person from that county’.👍🏻
