HYPOTHERMIA - SIX ECHO
Hypothermia can be a real problem in cold environments. But it can even be a serious issue in warm environments if our patient has lost blood, is wet, or otherwise can’t regulate their own body temperature. Getting ahead of the curve is critical to managing these patients and keeping them warm.
In this video we will show you some tips and trick to keep patients warm and protect them from the elements.
-Remove wet clothing
-Insulate them from the ground and stretcher or litter you carry them on
-Use blankets and dry cloths for warmth
-Use active warming items such as HotHands and active warming blankets
-Wrap everything with a Mylar emergency blanket to reflect heat back towards the patient
Use these simple steps to maintain body heat and start remaining your hypothermic victim.
