Just seen this and as a retired police officer, may I say this is the most appalling behaviour by these three individuals. Inappropriate, unreasonable and unacceptable. They do not have the right to request this individual’s details and indeed even as a police officer, details they can only be requested if there is reasonable suspicion an offence has been committed. This clearly isn’t the case here.
I hope the psychological burden aint too heavy for you. I know you have had to deal with all the stuff you have seen. I know a retired firefighter who suffers from ptsd. He was medically retired. I pop round two times a week & go to the shop for him.. My neighbours say im nuts as think he is a weirdo. They dont know anything about him. He told me personally that he was a retired firefighter & he has never mentioned it again.. It aint on me to tell the neighbours.. Shame is on all of them though, Not I 😊
Well, according to Flex Your Rights, if you just want to get the encounter over and done with, your best bet is to identify yourself. You can refuse to comply, but it’ll be longer before you’re said and done, and you could even be detained.

Sadly, according to the legislation, they do (very limited powwrs, but legally speaking, they do have them). It's a sad state of affairs when we start giving private companies certain police powers.
I, and other individuals, don't have that power, so I/we can't give that power to someone else. Government/Police act only with our consent, we cannot give consent to powers which we do not possess and therefore these authorities also cannot assign those powers to others. It may be written in legislation, but the legislation is flawed and would fail when challenged.

Yes it’s one thing to be rightly upset at their behaviour but they are acting as they have been instructed. Someone was watching AB on cctv and told them to question and follow AB. There must also be training courses up and down the country telling the police and these safety officers to apprehend the public if they see *anything suspicious*. Imagine how scared an elderly or infirm person would be. There is a person with learning difficulties who walks around my home town always stopping in doorways and looking in and through windows. @@reeslodge24 Hi @KingRees86 , that is true however not all people are strong i used belong to a site about debt , these debt companies will still take people to court even though the debt is statute barred 5 years in scotland and 6 years in England ,what this means the debt is not enforceable in court , under the limitations Act,1980 in England, however if a person is taken to court and this person does not turn up even though statute barred ,The debt company will win by default and the debt starts again for another 6 years but now you can have court bailiffs at your door , even though you tell people this and you say go to court it will be thrown out , people was still to scared to turn up for court . not all people are strong ,
