@@jarfish1968 Not trying to be funny, but the security man in question was doing a front line job. He was in contact with a member of the public. I had to wear mine at all times I was dealing with the public, an SIA and company requirement.

Legally the badge must be on display. It only legally has to be shown to the police, the holder's employer and the issuing authority.

It's nigh on impossible to train security personnel on 'the law' - it's a huge undertaking. The basic SIA course covers the basics of front line security operations. It's down to the employer to train the officers/guards on what the may need to know to carry out their relevant roles. Most companies cover trespass, arrests, assault , etc and should be training staff on public photography (it's relatively simple after all) - taking photographs or filming is not illegal (that's it - training over).
