This topic really excites me and I dream about being able to do this on the fly as you do. The theory is no problem, but how you get from that to a musicality with a beat, THAT I could wish to watch develop at the slowest possible speed. This particular video is your best so far because the pieces are more bight-sized and you have started to give clues to the methods for choosing which notes from the scale to p lay. Apparently, you can “sing” in your head, the notes from a scale, by arpegio, or pentatonic, in random order at will. In any case: thank you very much indeed fir this. I really look forward to more on this topic.

I know the theory but I guess coming up with an interesting groove just takes practice and listening. Great lesson. Thanks Dan.

Hiya Dan. You 've helped me become a decent bassist (not just a guy who can play songs), 13 months after receiving a bass as a gift. Many thanks. I appreciate you and your work, and really should open my wallet and buy something from you. In case anyone hasn't told you today ------> you're awesome! I noticed you rarely play with a plectrum. Is this a preference? Is there a time where you do find yourself playing with a pick while gigging or something. You're not secretly the bassist for Gwar are you? Just curious... Got to the point where i am decent with my fingers ( somewhere around 90-95 bpm 16th notes ) -----> I watch 10 year olds fly around the fretboard at the speed of light so i know i can get more dexterity in my fingers, but I started trying to use a pick a while back and feel clumsy in comparison. Starting to ramble here, so I'll leave it at thanks. Have a pleasant day. Cheers mate.

Thanks so much for the comment, Richard! I’m happy you’re reaching a decent level - keep up the hard work. I love playing with a plectrum. I had to work hard at it because fingers feel much more natural to me but I can play with one and do when the need arises. I have a couple of plectrum lessons I think…

Wow this is awesome stuff, almost sounds like you can transition into the Jackson 5. I want you back bass line.

Yes, that bass line can be played using the notes of the major scale. Try and piece it together!

The E major and A major are favorites of mine. The F major has me a little stumped, I'm not sure whether I should use fingers 1,2,3 for the F major scale or fingers 1,3,4 or 1,2,4, I guess whatever works for me, but for all intensive purposes is that how I should be thinking about it? So what I'm asking you is what is the rule of thumb for the F major scale?
@OnlineBassCourses
@OnlineBassCourses Месяц назад
No rule, really and it depends where on the neck you play it. There are moveable shapes where you can use one finger per fret and some where you can use extended fingering. If you use open strings, there are options. There are always options!

@@OnlineBassCourses I appreciate that. Sometimes I'm just unsure of myself, it's nice to chat with someone for a little reassurance. From somebody who knows. And I never thought about that it does depend on the bass you're playing on. Totally cool Dan, thx bro..
@OnlineBassCourses
@OnlineBassCourses Месяц назад
@@bAgRiMoIrEsS.4 It should work on any bass. It's more the position on the bass that you decide to play F Major.
