I used to have some pretty messy parties and if I had a friend who was taking a particularly wobbly turn I would introduce them to the chillout Corner in the garage which contained an inflatable dinghy, a cold 4 pack and a copy of sega bass fishing on the dreamcast, including rod. It was a soothing experience and I really think the blue carpet added enough authenticity to sooth the heart of even the most wounded casualties of recreational substances.
Heh. That sounds pretty cool. I think I'm going to have to keep an eye out for one of those machines at the local Dave and Busters/Round 1 and give the real thing a shot.
Fun fact: Being German i had no idea that "Bass Masters" means fishing, i honestly thought that it was something audio related (Bass), possibily rap related, when i downloaded the rom back in the day. Imagine my surprise when it was some fishing game 😂 As a young child i learned to fish in what used to be Yugoslavia on vacation with a family we befriended and several years later i went on a fish trip with some locals in Sri Lanka (that was more of a professional fish trip, the whole boat was full of living fish, at 4 am in the morning, needless to say with the heavy sea breeze and my empty stomach i got sick) but i can't really get this as a video game. I guess you could ask "What's the appeal?" for any kind of game but this is one were it's warranted in my oppinion.
You're a better man than me. I think I might have stuck with it if I could have figured out how the fish meter worked...and then actually found a bass and not something else.
@@ZilogandMoto so the biggest thing to learn is when a fish bites, you press down to hook. So A reels in the fish, I don't think B does anything, but C is how to catch the fish. When reeling a fish, holding C can jerk the rod around as well as reposition a fish to reel in faster. You use left and right to determine which way to try and pull the fish. If you pull the same way the fish is swimming, your lure will come out of the fish and you'll lose it. If a fish is looking left, you pull right and if it's looking right, you pull left. When you get that mechanic down and understood, the rest of the game becomes easier the more you mess with it. Quick tip: when you finally catch your first bass, if it jumps out of the water, if you press any button, you'll lose it. Also if you want to quickly reel in a cast to recast, you can hold A and hit C for a quick reel. Hope you can give this game a second chance down the line with this new info.
Good to know. I think I had finally figured out that mechanic towards the end, however I was still getting frustrated by not ever actually finding any bass in the water to catch. Maybe I'll try it again sometime.
I like fishing on the various Zelda games, I like them the same way you like fishing in Farcry 5. Never tried any fishing game, but I've always been curious about Sega Bass. Never tried real life fishing. This game cover art looks really cool.
So I'm a fishing game guy. Bass Master Pro Edition on SNES is my fav. There's a big diff between the reg and the pro. I had this game but hardly played it bc it wasn't nearly as good. As you well know lol
I could tell from looking at the pictures on the back of the box that they were definitely different games, despite the similar names. Good to know that's a better title.
