Sorry for your loss Ian, never easy is it when they go, hope you're doing ok. I lost my dogs over 10 years ago and I still think about them everyday. Used to take them fishing with me and they loved every minute of it. Tight lines mate, see you on the next one 👍🙏👍
Hi Gareth many thanks for your kind words about Bella. Going to Abbotsbury on Friday to see her off properly. Hope all going well down in South Wales cheers ian
I enjoyed your drive to the beach as much as the fishing, brings back memories of the holidays I spent at Brean with my kids. We couldn’t afford to go abroad but it didn’t matter the kids spent 4wks of the year in Nannies caravan and to them it could of been the Bahamas . They are all in their 20s and 30s now but still rave about the wonderful times they spent at Brean. I have bought some beach fishing kit and hope to get out soon . Thanks for posting 👍. 🤔 Bet you curse the holiday season
Hi Shaun lovely to hear from you!!! I’m so glad my video brought back some great memories for you! Brean is an easy beach to fish I’m sure you will have a great time there!! Thanks very much for watching and taking the time to comment cheers ian
I've not finished watching the video but I would just like to say how sorry I am that you have lost your lovely dog and companion. My lab is only 12 and is struggling with his joints but at the same time still has his mental sharpness, hearing and eyesight which is heart breaking, I would give anything to keep him going until nature takes him instead of me having to be the one to make that decision. We also have a cocker spaniel called Lady, they are fantastic, majestic dogs and they really have a very special personality. I remember one old school gundog trainer saying that cockers are like little people and have to be trained in a very different way and I've always remembered that because he had a point. Kind regards Nick
So sorry to hear about Bella. 17 is a good old age and she clearly loved being out with you. The great thing about dogs is that they are always pleased to see you and never in a bad mood. I’m sure she would have approved of having Dragons Teeth as her final resting place. Stay safe and tight lines. Mike.
Hi Ian, great to see you and Chris back on the beach and video, there had been a bit of a hiatus and I wondered how you were getting on. I was sorry to hear about your loss, you’ve lost a member of the family there. I look forward to your next video. All the best to you, and pass on my regards to Chris.
Hi Ian nice to see you again sorry to here about the loss of a team mate (very sad) hope you are keeping well looking forward to seeing more from you and Chris take care
nice to see you back mate ,so sorry to hear about bella ,its hard but time does heal ,nice that she will still be with you when you go down chesil each time , hope you replace her as it does help , any way at least you did not blank on this outing , i just spent 2 days in scotland after another big skate and did not get a bite , but as we know thats fishing ,hope to meet you this year when im out and about until then chin up and dont forget ,keep your vids under 20mins long ,,😃ATB les
Once again thanks for your lovely words Les!! Sorry you didn’t get a big skate…that’s a long way to go for FA!! Hopefully the next video will be long enough for you but presently me and chris struggling for anything decent….this video could easily have been under 5 minutes long!!😂😂 cheers ian
Love that beach me and the wife were down there in April and sitting on the beach we have had a lot lovely holidays at brean . Sorry about the dog always hard to get over look forward to the next video 👍
Lovely video again Ian & Chris Lovely beach that is got to fish that this year some time will after ask you best times to go & what tided ,& times to fish it i live 80 miles from there ,also sorry about your dog . 🐟👏👍
Hi Gary thanks for watching!! Brean can only be fished for the last 3 hours of the flood and maybe one hour down. In summer bass or sole are the main species along with ray and conger. I would fish lug you dig on the beach before you start. However rag and fish baits do work. A tide between 10.5 and 11.5 m on the Weston-Super-Mare tide scale is ideal. Good luck cheers ian
sorry to hear about Bella Ian. the bugger sneak into a space in your heart don't they. My old cocker was 15 when we lost her and I always said we'd never have another dog like her ... 2 weeks later we got a pup that someone wanted putting down as she was nasty (Just after christmas funnily enough!) and Natcho wasn't like Meg but she too was a brilliant dog but different ways and she was 14 I think. we've not had one since but still miss them both. Good to see you back on the channel though I've missed them.
Thanks so much for your kind words! It’s not easy losing a family member! Spaniels are such lovely dogs….. thanks for watching and taking the time to comment cheers ian
Good to see you uploading again, sorry to hear about the dog , very hard to lose them , my oldest spaniel is 14 , and I can’t even think about her going , 👍👍
@@ianclarkfishing no worries mate, I know exactly how it feels to lose them , I’ve got 5 spaniels, had spaniels since 1984 , they’re part of the family, none dog owners just don’t get it , they think it’s just a dog , we know it isn’t 👍👍
So sorry to hear of your sad loss of Bella, just remember those great times with her. I lost my dog a couple months ago, still struggle at times, but that shows how much we loved them. thanks for another great video.
Yes Mike the beauty of RU-vid is she is there for posterity!!! She always snuggled in the shelter with me on the chesil overnighters!! Glad you enjoyed the video cheers ian
Nice to see a new video up🙂 sorry to hear about Bella. They really are members of the family aren’t they? From what I have seen she obviously had a great life with you. Tight lines. Tony
Good to have you back! Fishing has been tough here in Hants on the plastic, certainly keeps up all guessing. Sorry to hear the loss of Bella, cockers are true companions and always heart breaking when poochies pass on. All the best.
Lovely to hear from you Steve many thanks for your kind words! Seems fishing tough everywhere at the moment unfortunately! Thanks for watching cheers ian
Very pleased to see you are posting again and sorry to hear the little one has gone, I love dogs and used to have about 6 but not anymore. I went to Brean (early in the morning) and Hinkley Point (in the afternoon) few weeks ago on a spring tide, not a single bite in both locations for the whole day, 165 miles each way. It was a nightmare at Hinkley Point as I didn't realised how muddy it was when trying to walk from one mark to the next, mud was very much everywhere on me, but it was a good lesson to learn for the next trip. The funny thing was we didn't buy any lugs and were confident to dig our own lugs at Brean having seen Chris did it many times through your clips, but sadly, we couldn't get a single one, so we were just wondering how you and Chris did it. BTW, we might be back to Brean in early June for Sole, any advice you can give when the best time to try Sole at Brean? Thanks and take care Ian.
Lovely to hear from you again. Sorry your trip was not a good one! I’m not sure why you couldn’t dig any lug as there are millions of them!!! There are RU-vid videos how to dig blow lug….! I told you I didn’t like the mud at Hinckley didn’t I!!😉 with regards to sole you need a calm sea from mid June onwards fishing size 2 hooks with lug or rag. Thanks for your kind words about Bella. I hear the smoothound are about in Kent at the moment!!! Cheers ian
@@ianclarkfishing I went to Selsey last Saturday, from 4pm and couldn't fish until around 9.30pm because of weeds, myself and other anglers lost few rigs because of weeds. The weed started to go away around 9.30pm and we started to fish, in just just an hour I caught 4 hounds in 1 rod, on size 2 hooks. Had enough so went home as wasted more 4 hours sitting there waiting for the weeds to disappear. Loads of hounds here. The biggest one I got was around 10lb, the smallest was 8.5lb. Thanks for the advice, maybe we didn't dig deep enough to get to the lugs, will try again next time. Take care.
Hi Ian Extremely sorry to hear of the passing of Bella (being a family and loyal companion) know how you feel as lost my working springer a few years ago and she was my loyal companion thru thick and thin, knowing all my secrets !. Said I would not get another, but currently look after my daughters chocolate roan cocker 2 days each week and you realise the bond you form with these affectionate animals Go Steady and remember all the good and funny memorable times
Hi Derek lovely to hear from you again! Bella was a chocolate roan too!! Such lovely animals! I will miss her dreadfully. She will be with me on chesil whenever I fish there! Thanks for your kind words cheers ian
sorry to hear your news of your loss ian i completly know how it feels my freind her memory will live on for the rest of your life keep the videos coming they are awsome
Welcome back Ian, keeping plugging away, us sofa surfers appreciate the effort. The only problem with dogs is they don't live long enough, although 17 is a fantastic age, all the best to you
No problem John I hope you are well! We haven’t been down to the big beach yet shall I let you know when we are going? Probably end of May/ early June! Cheers ian
Cracking video as always Ian. Sorry to hear about Bella always very hard to say goodbye to a member of the family. Chin up mate. Looking forward to the video from Chesil beach. Tight lines to you and Chris. All the best Paul 👍 🎣🎣
Hello again Paul lovely to hear from you again! Yes Bella was definitely a family member and will be sorely missed! Me and chris both looking forward to chesil too though I hear the spider crabs are in plague proportions!!! Should be interesting!!! Thanks again for watching cheers ian
So sad 😭.One if my sons just lost his youngest dog sadly. People without pets just don’t understand how attached you become and how important they are in your life.
Great to see yourself and Chris back, have been checking everyday for the latest installment, didn't see Bella?,, Chesil calling I wonder what surprise's this season will throw up. As always tight lines keep safe, Bella will be missed by all that have followed your adventures on here. Best wishes from Chris.
Another great video bud sorry to hear that your dogs passed, like losing a family member isnt it, will you get another? Good luck on your chesil exploits soon
Hi Keith lovely to hear from you again. Not sure about another dog just yet everything is a bit raw currently. Looking forward to getting to chesil hopefully some action to post!!! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment cheers ian
Similar results to you Ian. Three visits to Brean on good tides resulting in one conger of about 5 lbs and a reasonable thorny. A few rattling bites, probably small codling. Quick question. How many worms do you load the hooks with and how long do you leave the rig out there before refreshing the bait. Regards, Kevin
Hi Kevin nice to hear from you. I have been known to leave a bait out for the full 3 hours but generally about an hour as no crab issues. Use up to ten worms on the hook!!!! Maybe see you there! Cheers ian
Hi Sammy I’m not sure… we do get flounder with spots on them occasionally and it had the look of one too. Generally the sea too murky for the plaice but who knows!!! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment cheers ian
