Any of our reservoirs up north in Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota are amazing fish factories that abound in big fish. Like, Oahe, none really have any human habitations near them. They are vast wilderness' not to be trifled with lightly. MDJ found that out. Those boys found out that you can't land many big smallies on 6 lb. line very easily.
Garrett K lol... ur not gonna believe it but it's true. Nets don't make for good TV. For the most part boat flipping them in (if u can) is more exciting.
My understanding is the net actually causes more harm to the fish. Not sure if that’s true. But it does add an additional hurdle that the angler must overcome.
Barry D. I disagree. Without a net you are forced to tire the fish out longer (if you are trying to grab it by hand). If they decide to sling the fish, they are just dropping it onto the deck of their boats.
Garrett K - I don’t disagree with you entirely. But I think whether by a net or by slinging in the fish, the fish ends up on the boat floor period. Only by hand does the floor get left alone. However, that’s not why the rule is there. I looked it up. Purely to add a challenge to the tournament. Ray Scott wanted the challenge added.
@@charlesrobertson2412 Wow you're wrong so you immediately assume age. With your IQ you probably don't know the difference between a Smallmouth and a Largemouth... Sorry for correcting you 🤷♂️
