I watched an interview with Davy Hite last night and he says this is going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. You can bet if he was still fishing he would be livid with these crappy payouts and what BASS is doing. Can't believe these folks are supporting this foolishness. I have always been a huge fan of Davy, Zona (even though he is gone now) and Tommy Sanders and I bet they are thinking, what the hell is going on here. Sad state of affairs. I have been a Life member of BASS since Sept of 1984 (40 years) and don't like what is going on and feel sorry for the anglers.
Bassmasters reminds me of our government completely out of touch with the people and incompetence at all levels . Surely, it's incompetence at its finest. You can't fix incompetence, but you can remove them by demanding excellence, voting them out, and by publicizing the foolishness of those in charge! Keep up the fight!
They used to be "appointment viewing" on TV. Now it has to be watched on-line over the length of an entire day and days. Their TV show is not really watchable for many reasons-the commentators are boring and have no personality.
Reminds me of my old company. It was run by a bunch of brothers and went great. They retired and their sons took over and it went to heck. Questioned every decision that was made from there on out.
Randy, I disagree that the majority of BASS members are against FFS & will cancel their memberships but I do agree that BASS stiffed the Elite anglers by slashing the payouts, it's all about the money with BASS from the Elites to Bass Nation
I think Bassmaster is saying make your money on social media. We can't afford or are unwilling to make this profitable for the angler. Do fans of fishing own and run Bassmaster? Years ago Ray Scott started and owned Bassmaster. Who actually owns it now? Does anyone know?
BASS has been getting its d!ck caught in their zipper for every decision they make the last 5 years. They also did that with their first tournament director for their kayak series ((Stewart?) (pre-Steve Owens). The dude had done absolutely no research on how kayak tournaments were structured WRT launches, lines in times, etc. much less know the anglers and a bit of their history, terminology and basic jargon-besides the fact that he was overtly disinterested in his mission/responsibility. Thank God they got someone like SteveO to right that ship for the kayak. This same problem exists in this current issue-NO research!
Headlines were awesome, and I was excited until I saw the payout!! You are definitely right on this one, my gut says this will change before the season starts because Angler's will get together and get it back to where was by saying they are willing to pay 2k or something like that.
I ran the math on different pros from last year and most would make less money with the new format even without entry fees. The entry fees were basically a subsidy and without we see where the actually market value is of professional fishing. Its a niche sport.
I think you missed the point. By eliminating the entry fees gives the organization more power over the anglers. You were just complaining about the pay for play and yet demanding the anglers tote the line. Now they have put up to get the shut up.
So an elite series angler secures all of his entry fees through sponsors he finishes in the top 50 in 9 tournaments and makes 90 grand now he finishes in the top 40 in 9 tournaments and he makes 4500 bucks what a complete joke Bass has become !!

You know why those "20 year old flat brimmers" are being catered to? It's because in 20 years, they'll still be fishing and most of the current "pro's" will be obsolete/irrelevant. They're planning for the future; instead of catering to the past.
Randy I think BASS has lost its way and no longer has the sway it once had. Haven’t watched any tournaments mlf or bass since ffs took over. It will never be the same again.
I started all the way back in B.AS.S. back mid 70's and I don't know how or why bass fishing is a tournament thing? I can't believe there is money in it. I wish it would stop.😊
I read an article that said the decision was made to eliminate the bottom 3rd of the current underperforming field and motivate new younger anglers to step in and step up🤔
@5150Fishing how many guys that would of been rookies turned it down cuz of the 45k, now rookies can take a way cheaper shot at it. Like I said it's good for rookies and the average guy to give it a shot but it's def not good for consistent anglers that cash checks
In the grand scheme of things they do not have to fish they can go get a regular job like the res of us somebody else can come right in and fill their spot they act like they are owed tons of money and that's just not reality they are salesman for product and bassmaster gives them a stage to sell the products if they can't cut it go home and let somebody else give it a shot
Number one I would completely ban Forward facing sonar and require anglers to only have one unit on the console and one unit upfront. Secondly I would completely restructure the rules because half of them need to be replaced. I would implement a payout structure that was not so top-heavy and pay half of the field with a reduced entry fee as starters.
Man bass fishing as a whole has gone to 💩. Everyone hating on everyone. Boats, electronics, trucks, baits… it’s become just one big d;ck measuring contest.
You can forget about FFS ever going away now. BASS is going to need every penny of sponsor funding that they can scrape up. A lot, if not most of sponsor revenue comes from the electronics companies.
As a 'fan', I could care less who finishes outside of the top 10 . . . sorry. If BASS posted the overall season points standings, I may poke my head in there once in a while. Furthermore, the anglers finances are of ZERO interest to me.
Randy pushes for people to stop watching these tournaments due to FFS. They slash payouts bc maybe the lack of views and support is down bc of this….did he Win??!
Bass anglers are not there to make money. They’re there the win money I go to a casino to win money not to make money in the casino not gonna give you money just because you spent a certain amount of money Am i wrong?
This is “the new normal!” It’s everything! Nothing is sacred anymore! Nothing! Baseball has remained the same for hundreds of years! They had to change it….. NASCAR had an exciting sport that exploded in the 90’s! Everything they did to make it fun and exciting they decided to go 180 degrees the wrong way with and destroyed it. Why? Why?????? Bassmaster HAD a fun and exciting sport that was exciting to watch on tv! What did they do? Everything that was great about it they changed and everything that sucked they double down on… I’m basically convinced that it’s becoming a CIA conspiracy at this point. They are trying to destroy everything that was good
Bassmaster is missing the money train with there production of live tournaments. It is all but unwatchable.They need to take a page from the PGA television playbook. If they invested in a quality production team for live events they could double their ratings. Higher ratings equals to big bucks from television contracts and increased sponsor revenue
Professional bass fishing is dying and is right now on life support. They just disconnected the breathing machine with this change. Local circuits and clubs will be all that’s left in the end.
It doesn’t matter who has forward facing sonar, and who does not the ones that would prevail in the tournaments are the ones that can fish with face of sonar and without facing sonar. If you don’t have facing skills, then you’re not going to place. Now they have changed the rules. There is a opportunity for people that is not good with faces on our to not have to face that much of the forward facing sonar, but don’t be surprised if the trophies not one from the round that has four face of sonar.
Also guys let me make sure I make a sales add out of every video I make. Notice none of these videos are on the water fishing. Let me complain about everything because I know it all. Quit fishing and go to work like a normal person if it’s so awful
Why are you complaining about this? It has nothing to do with you. It is what it is. $0 for entry fees is a move in the right direction. None of these pros are going to ever make as much as mlb, nfl or nba. IT’s fishing.
You’ve definitely left a lasting impression on the fishing industry. If you can’t compete, stay relevant by crying about everything. Unfortunately it’s starting to spread.
Let’s face it. The current management are obviously a bunch of Democrats. I also have been a life member since the beginning. I do not watch tournaments any longer, because I do not enjoy watching the video gamers. If Bass goes under before I pass. I will file suit to recover my Life Membership cost, based on the fact that I out lived the organization.
I swear Randy is prejudiced against young guys and flat Bill hats. He cannot stand knowing he can get beat by some young guy. He cried about four face of sonar until it got taken away and now he’s saying they’re making crap decisions
