You has seen the weisberg system. That's a New system (a pair of automatyc keys) that Weisberg develope to help the difficult notes on te bassoon, because there are so many notes in this instrument whose system hasn't changed from the baroque, and are easy-cracked, difficult to play forte or piano, with ugly sound, etc...
I disagree with your opinion on throat vibrato. The first vibrato technique I learned was diaphram, but I've switched to using my larynx. Throat vibrato was harder to learn and felt awkward at first, but when I got used to it, my air flow became very consistent and easy to control, and the effort required to make a beautiful sound was reduced substantially. Overall, throat vibrato makes you sound more like a classical tenor voice, which use throat vibrato and a consistent flowing air stream to project their voice over the orchestra.
