Ever wanted a faster, easier way to load a quilt? Aggravated at pins making you bleed on quilts or ruining your clothing by snagging? This method of loading will save you a lot of time and trouble, you will find it to be very easy!
Thank you so much for this fabulous video! No one on youtube is loading quilts this way and I can't believe how simple it is with your straight forward instruction. I mean, if we were going to pin through those leaders anyway, why not just stitch through them. You are a genius. Thanks again!
Andrew BLESS you!! I love this new technique! I won't be stabbing myself with those nasty corsage pins again!! I tried it and I love it. You shared many great ideas on this video, THANK YOU!! I posted on my Statler Belles FaceBook page and they're all excited about your video/ideas as well. Thanks again for sharing!
I appreciate that you showed me this method when I first got my Gammill. I pretty much use this method to attach everything. I do usually baste my quilt top too though. But both methods work well. I just finished a round tree skirt which had to be done this way, it worked great! I had no problems at all with floating the top. I also use this method to quickly test a quilting pattern or just play with scrap material with the grand kids or to show a customer how the machine works. I still have 2 customer quilts to do and sew a "Frozen quilt" as one of my own gifts for my grand daughter Christmas! (I hope you have no quick delivery trips plannned to Northern Alberta this year for Gammill presents!) Thanks Andrew and Michelle. Merry Christmas 2015!
I only found your video by accident but am so very glad I did!! I use zippered leaders and have been sewing them to my quilts layers on my domestic machine. I, too, start at the middle of the fabric. I don't see any reason I couldn't zip on my leaders and baste the layers on this way. I quite using pins at all as soon as I discovered zippered leaders. I had so many pricks in my fingers it was painful! Thanks too for showing the correct place to attach the mag. bars. I don't see why it makes a difference wether or not the bar rolls since you have to adjust them with each roll. But, They certainly are out of the way in your positioning. I see you have a Vision model thus the basting stitches. I have a 2008 Classic Plus and I put my machine in the 4% range and baste that way. I'd love to have the basting option as I think it looks much easier.
Great video, I've been wanting to use my magnet bars. So glad I now know which bar to attach them to. I have a gammill classic so I still pin the back, but I may start bastingto the zip off leaders on my domestic. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for asking about the magnet bars. We offer them online at this page for $12.50 each. andrewsgammillnorthwest.com/product/barmag-high-power-magnets-for-quilt-mounting/ I usually recommend getting four bars for a twelve foot table.
