Love that they mixed these two songs together given that Jarvis Cocker (lead singer of the band 'PULP') who wrote 'Common People' mooned MJ live on TV whilst he was singing 'Earth Song' in 1998!!! Really clever mix from Bastille!
Apart from the amazing arrangement and superb playing and singing the best bit of this video is the woman at 4:30 looking at the woman next to her thinking...Pipe down love, you can't sing for s***!!!
every time i watch this i just cry laughing bc that one goddamn back up singer is so flat it destroys everything i even remember watching an interview where they get asked about bad performances and they say this one because of the one singer that was really off

I don't think the background singers were too terrible... Their volume should have been down a bit more and one or two of them sounds off but other than that this was an okay performance.
Would love to hear them do an upbeat version of "common people" by itself. It's one of my favourite songs and i think his voice would be perfect for it! :)
Love the cover buuuut i don't like the background singers tbh :/ They were out of tune sometimes and also too loud, they were louder than Dans voice which is not really the purpose of background singers is it? But this is definitely one of the best live lounge covers ever!
Their mashups work so well. It seems like it's a signature Bastille thing now. At their concerts, they should perform their music and then do a bunch of mashups.
Amazing... Background singers seemed a bit loud... I just wanted to hear Bastille sing. His voice is incredible! Still so good, every song they cover is so good!!!
I'm not a big Bastille fan, but I really like the effort they put in to their live lounge performances. Not many other artists/groups put as much thought in to what they do here :)
keep coming back to this song its special, they all musicians and singers they get paid for what they do, they seem to be enjoying themselves sum like sum don't,, i love it, x

Took me 7 years to realease that this mashup is an ode to one of the best moments in Brits awards history in 1996 when Jarvis Cocker (Pulp-Common People) bursted onto the stage during Micahel Jackson’s performance of Earth Song and made fun of it on live television. Brilliant.
They could cover everything, anything, I don't care what, would always sound just perfect! Did anybody else notice how Dan had to bite back his grin a few times, like something was funny but he can't laugh because he's singing? ;)
