Towards the end of the song the PA system stops working and randomly turns back on and off until the end. The crowd finishes the song. PA cuts out at 2:45, 2:54, 3:21 Pompeii Live Bastille San Diego, CA November 19, 2014
This crowd turned what seemed to be a bad situation into the most incredible moment. Props to this crowd and Bastille for handling it with such understanding and perfection.
was front row at a bastille show last week and this was the last song they played and the audience kept singing until the whole band was off-stage and the lights went dark. it was ethereal
@@theredtechengineer1480 theres ways you can fake singing without dubbing it over, any live performance you go to will use autotune to some extent unless its some random punk band with 20 people in the crowd
Shoutout to the sound engineer! Great job to the crowd and the band, but I can only imagine the pressure the sound engineer would've been under to get the PA back.
after my mom left me my dad and my brother, i remeber this song coming on the radio when we were driving over to my grandpas (where we had to move in) and it giving me hope things were going to get better. that was 8 years ago. im forever grateful everytime this song comes on.
this video was posted 7 years ago im bearly watching it in 2022, i dont know the song but listening to the crowd keep the song going gave chills.... awesome
2:13 made me smile more then the crowd continuing the song just because all of them playing the drums and that beat, idk there was just something about that that made me smile
Maybe this one was destined to happen. The song is called Pompeii, and much like Pompeii, the performance as it was originally intended crumbled in an instant, only to be restored by those who loved the music the most
You know, if you close your eyes it *almost* feels like nothing changed at all. It almost seems like this was done intentionally because it kinda really fits the lyrics. Probably wasn't but if it was thats genius
Awwwwww the happiness I have now! Bastille crowds are always so enthusiastic and it blows me away. I visited them in Frankfurt and we were so loud it was heard.. kinda outside the building (because the building was a special type for concerts so the sound shouldn’t really be heard outside)
I was left to my own devices Many days fell away with nothing to show And the walls kept tumbling down In the city that we love Grey clouds roll over the hills Bringing darkness from above But if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like Nothing changed at all? And if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like You've been here before? But if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like Nothing changed at all? And if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like You've been here before? Nothing changed at all Nothing changed at all We were caught up and lost in all of our vices In your pose as the dust settled around us And the walls kept tumbling down In the city that we love Grey clouds roll over the hills Bringing darkness from above But if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like Nothing changed at all? And if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like You've been here before? Nothing changed at all Nothing changed at all Oh where do we begin? The rubble or our sins? Oh where do we begin? The rubble or our sins? But if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like Nothing changed at all? And if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like You've been here before? Nothing changed at all Nothing changed at all
This almost turned out to be a Bad Situation I give Credit to the Audience for joining in Singing since the PA kept going down for them on stage such a Beautiful Moment that Everyone knew the Song and Joined in!
I remember hearing this song in circa 2013(?) and thinking "This slaps but it will never be a hit because everyone else's musical tastes are bland as hell." Boy do I feel stupid now.
Ehh I love this song and have nothing against Bastille, but this has to be one of the blandest songs from the past 10 years. Something out of the Imagine Dragons catalogue (which I enjoy, too). Still rocks, but it's Bland with a capital B.
Anyone know what the hippie chick to the right of the drums actually did? She would run in and do the drum breakdown and then run back next to the drums and dance around. What a great job to have in the band lol
Since they didn't react I'd bet it was still playing in their headsets. My friend is in a local band and they've had this happen before because the house mixer doesn't know what they're doing but it keeps going in their headsets so they never know.
the biggest irony of singing out "how I'm going to be an optimist about this" while the sound system died, and he just became most optimist person on stage.
